nice, friendly welcome from the woman on reception. I had my single room upgraded to a larger room too which was nice. plenty of tea and coffee in the room along with some biscuits and some fresh fruit. didn’t have time for the cooked breakfast in the morning as i had a train to catch but they arranged for me to have a bacon and egg sandwich to take away with me which was tasty. would definitely stay here again when i next come to Bristol

Room was lovely. Tea, coffee etc very good. Linens and towels pristine. Bed was exceptionally comfortable. Bathroom was adequate, clean but shabby. The day I was there the chef was off sick, so no hot food.

The total experience was truly positive, very friendly staff for which nothing was too much trouble. Comfortable room with good facilities. Excellent quality breakfast with a good choice. I will be returning in the future.

The hotel is distinctive with it’s red entrance, lots of information on Bristol
It’s got a-lot of character, wonderful staff. The softest cosiest bed I’ve slept in
being an Georgian building with such it can do with some maintenance.
Breakfast is complimentary with a good selection.

Breakfast area was full even though I’d booked, was therefore unable to eat and it closed before any space became available. Room unfortunately had mould and damp on the walls. Staff service and friendliness was great however!

Staff were very welcoming and professional. The building is old and that is reflected in it's condition. The window in our room rattled which added to our poor night's sleep. We could hear everything going on in the reception area. The bathroom was a joke. Knees nearly touched the wall when seated on the toilet and when flushing the toilet a pump could be heard for an extended period of time. Not a great experience especially for the price.

Don't be fooled by the quaint exterior. I rejected the first room I was given and the second was not much better. Both rooms needed to be completely refurbished.The beds were awful.Touching the lamp made all the lights go out. There was barely enough space to open a suitcase.

Great value hotel in Clifton area, walkable to everything and has available parking. Rooms small but comfortable, no AC but even though hot weather when we stayed a fan provided adequate cooling. Very friendly staff and great breakfast.

Breakfast was a disaster….a staff member made inappropriate comments about other people in my party.
Only a few items for my breakfast order arrived and my friends breakfast was not served at all. When I asked where the rest of the breakfast was she said there is nothing available as the chef had left for her next job!

Breakfast was average with some items missing from the English breakfast - on both days we were there. The toast making facilities were very bad.
The room was average with one of the beds nearly blocking the bathroom door.
There was no extractor fan in the bathroom.

Our 2 night stay at the Washington was lovely we were there for the Gromet Trail 3, the room was clean and well presented the staff friendly and helpful, the breakfast was nice. It is a short walk to Clifton village with bars and shops also close the bus routes, The only thing the car park was small.

I had booked a single room, but the bed was approximately 165 cm long! I am 180, so I had to upgrade to a double room and pay 20 pounds extra for each night! I was told that all the singleroom beds were the same size, and I find it a bit strange that they dont inform about the size when you make the reservation.
The room also smelled of mold.
The double room was ok, but the bathroom could have been cleaner, it was obvious that it has been a while since they did anything more than the routine cleaning.
On the carpet in the room there where lots of hair...
I stayed for three nights, and they did not make the bed or change the towels once.
On the plus side, the staff was superfriendly, and the location is fine. You can walk to the centre in 20 minutes, and there is a bus stop 2 mins away, and they run regularly
downtown to the train station.
The full english breakfast was also ok.
But if I am to return to Bristol I will find another hotel.

Functional, no frills, & perhaps a little tired, but friendly staff & clean bedroom were the important things. The shared bathroom kind of worked, although it could have done with a little more attention in the cleaning. On the whole an ok stay, I’d certainly use again
