Quiet for sleeping as the property faces into a single lane street that doesn’t have much traffic. 1 of the 2 lifts wasn’t working so there was a reasonably long wait for lifts during peak times.

We are in New Zealand, this was a birthday present from me to my wife and daughter who share a birthday only a few days apart. It was for them the Melbourne experience and a 5 day shopping trip. (yes, I know, I'm brave). Firstly to make it an occasion I rang the receptionist (Kate) on the morning of their arrival and asked whether the hotel could do something "special" for their arrival. That eve my wife rang and raved the hotel had presented a bottle of wine and also a personal card from Kate saying Happy Birthday, and enjoy your visit to Melbourne. And people, it's this sort of personal service that makes one hotel stand out from the rest, and this one certainly does. They also raved about the real friendly service from the rest of the staff. They loved their four night stay. We will return!!

You know What? The attention of the counter in helping you with anything you needed. They guided me on places to visit, how and where to buy the "maki" card to pay for public transportation, etc. On my way back to the hotel, they asked me how my trip had gone, if I liked where I went, what my plans were for the next day, and if they could help me. Apart from that, the people of Melbourne—on the street, on the tram, on the train, in the lobby—would see me with a tourist map in my hand and immediately approach me to offer help (young people, adults, seniors, men, women, gays—they all offered help). I'm amazed! In museums, they guide you, recommend where to start, offer information, and in almost all of them, they don't charge! I could go on and on, but that's enough. I'm Mexican, right next to the US border (Tijuana/ San Diego CA.)
