Holiday Inn BASINGSTOKE

I booked this hotel purely on the basis that it had an All Day Restaurant and 24hr room service. When we asked for lunch, we were told 'Chef doesn't work between 11.am and 5.30.pm!' Having no car we had to get a taxi to the closest restaurant! We arrived at 2.pm, their check in time but we're told the room wasn't ready. I'd asked for a quiet room but they put us next to a set of double doors where they bring in all the supplies for the hotel. We had just done the overnight flight from Toronto and had no sleep or decent food, so this was all very exacerbating. We did manage to eat dinner there but were served by the most insolent waitress, who all but threw our plates on the table. I heard her mention 'the Americans' a bit later, which of course we are not. I am actually British and my partner is Canadian. Regardless of who she thought we were, we should not have been treated that way. It was totally unacceptable. We only stayed the one night and I have requested a refund for the remaining 5 nights, which I hope you will grant me. The hotel was falsely advertised and our treatment was disgraceful. I will say though that our breakfast was fabulous. Unfortunately I can't say the same for dinner.

We reserved two accessible rooms which were excellent, both had A/C (as it was very hot in the June heatwave ) We had a lovely evening meal and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Called at 10:56pm, 10:57pm, 10:58pm, 10:59pm no answer Called again at 12:57am and got the desk. I told the nightworker that we would be checking in at 2am after a 4 hour drive. He told me at that point that the aircon was broken, and eventually agreed to give us a 50% refund on our room. He made a note to pass to the morning team. The room was uncomfortably hot, but we got to sleep around 3am. In the morning at 8:30am, power tools and loud banging in a neighbouring room startled us awake. Rooms were being renovated. I went to reception and the woman on the desk claimed that she couldn't do anything. Had we been told that the air-con was broken ahead of time, we would have made alternative hotel arrangements. Had we been told at our 2am check-in that there were room renovations being done from 8:30am, then we could have at least tried to get some ear plugs to deal with the noise. We are touring orchestral performers and this lack of rest will really make our work that much more difficult. I want a full refund.

The hotel was clean and sufficient for what we needed. Sound proofing between rooms wasn't great

l'hotel est très vieux et commence a être rénové. C'est très sale actuellement, et mettre de la peinture sur des murs des années 70 ne suffit pas . Lors de mon arrivée,, j'ai eu une chambre refaite avec une literie confortable et une douche très petite mais récente. Par contre, les draps étaient sales et déchirés... Ma chambre donnait aussi sur un parking rempli de détritus. il y a du bruit toute la nuit, il faut obligatoirement des boules Quies. Je n'y retournerai plus jamais .

Poor premises that really needs refurbishment. Well overdue. Stuck in the 80’s. Bar / Restaurant Food options were very poor

Nice upgraded room but needs a bigger bed. Staff at breakfast were very slow and often nowhere to be seen. Poached eggs took 15 mins and were hard on arrival. Nice hotel, good location, plenty parking. Just needs more attention by breakfast staff!

We had an issue with the shower head hose, but asked for maintenance to sort it. Which they did promptly which was very nice. The ac didnt work our entire 5 day stay, which was very unfortunate, as it was incredibly hot. We did not eat at the property, can not review that aspect. Their were little cleaning things that could be attended to, such as someone hung banners in our room, and they could have been taken down entirely instead of leaving staples and buts of paper on the walls. The bin bags for the garbage cans are very small, and you cant out much in them before the bin bag falls inside. The tip outside was over flowing, with many pallets laying about. Which was unfortunate. But what can you do when you get a large delivery. Still a nice friendly place to stay.

Overall excellent service but slightly let down by a lack of staff during the afternoon and evenings over a weekend. Limited menu for the restaurant. Superb breakfast service. Very comfortable and well equipped rooms.

The hotel could use more staff. It seemed to be running a small number!

On arrival, there was nobody on the reception desk, and after waiting for a short while we had to go and find a staff member to check us in. The rooms whilst dated were clean and comfortable. Having booked a dinner bed and breakfast rate, we were disappointed to find that the dinner options were very limited, due to the hotel being refurbished according to a staff member. Breakfast buffet the following morning was fine, there was a good choice of hot and cold food. The coffee machine was out of beans though and once refilled would not work, which was disappointing. Overall a decent hotel, the main issue being the renovation and an apparent shortage of staff.

Misleading standard room photos that give you the impression that it’s a double bed. I arrived and was checked in to my twin room! Won’t be staying again, staff were less than helpful and made out the whole hotel was full so couldn’t change my room, even though I could book a room on Hotels.com for that very night.

The hotel is under refurbishment so building work going on. (Not advertised) Queen room booked to be told one wasn’t available because I had booked a standard. Had to contact Expedia who then refunded a small amount for inconvenience. Paid for three course dinner to be told there was only pizza or curry available no starters so had chips instead, did not eat curry as was undercooked chicken. Wrong dessert was then given out. (We were not the only disappointed diners with some asking refunds and leaving) Sleep was terrible beaming light from big gap under door all night. Slamming door throughout the night. Would not recommend would not return.

Hotel rooms let this holiday inn down the staff are very attentive, the room was clean, the bed is very uncomfortable, the pillows lumpy and the air con didn’t seem to be working, very disappointed as we have stayed holiday inns all over the country, this has been the worst

Staff were very helpful, particularly front of house on 7th Feb, who sorted out the missing lampshade ( a bare bulb one side of the bed is not a great first impression) and the heating as the room was freezing on arrival. He also ordered a taxi ( Alpha) 2 hours before our booking at The Anvil Theatre. Taxi didn’t arrive, he chased and they said 5/6 mins, still didn’t arrive, he called again and the taxi clearly hadn’t left, luckily we hadn’t drunk anything so we rushed to our car and drove ourselves, and ran from the car park, made it with 10 mins to spare. Bed v comfortable, food good. GB News playing at breakfast not ideal, a bit far right and racist for many peoples taste, perhaps go more neutral with BBC?

The room was clean but looked tired. The bathroom wood was wet with possible leak coming from bath, the sink was very slow in emptying & the toilet took a long time to fill after flushing
