Malacuna Manchester

This is ideal to bed down after a night out in Manchester. The sounds of music from outside stop at about 4am. So if you want to sleep before then I suggest ear plugs. There are no amenities in the room like a kettle or tv just bed sink shower and toilet. The sink is in the sleeping area. I've slept in worse places when I was backpacking in the 80's. The breakfast in the morning is next door in a bar. Egg on toast, yoghurt with banana slices & blueberries and a croissant with jam. Hot drink and juice. Won't stay there again as I'm too old and need home comforts. Reminded me of a youth hostel. It will be fine for many.

Cheap dorm accommodation and pretty much what you would expect apart from no drawer. Thankfully I only stayed 1 night but otherwise I wouldn’t feel safe leaving my luggage. Central location, 10 mins walk to either train station. But very loud outside until the early hours.

J’ai passé un excellent séjour dans cette auberge de jeunesse ! Les locaux sont impeccables, les espaces communs toujours propres et bien entretenus. L’équipe est accueillante. La chambre est confortable, et l’ambiance est chaleureuse.

Helpful staff and great location

Some of the comfiest hostel beds I've stayed in. Great location and good 20% deal with Wilson's downstairs. Staff were all awesome as well.

Room itself was clean - very small for my husband and I. But we made it work for a two night stay. If you want the private bathroom, just pay the extra - you won’t regret it.

Good for the price and would stay here again. Great location in centre of Northern Quarter. Nice to have a separate bathroom for our room of four and room was clean. Only downside is loud music from surrounding bars till 3am on a Friday night, so probably not ideal for light sleepers

This location was in the thick of everything. Within close walking distance to shopping, bars, restaurants. There is a lot of people and live music Friday - Sat - so bring ear plugs if you want to sleep early. My room was everything I needed - bed was nice - bathroom was nice. Bring an extra bag for garbage if you plan on staying more than 4 nights.

Super clean, I was amazed!! That's probably the reason why the price is high...maybe. This dormitory is FANTASTIC but I will never pay £30-£40 to stay in a room with 4 or 5 strangers, never!! So, for next time I'll book somewhere else..... MALACUNA has to lower its prices cos their price are unrealistic!

Lovely staff and reallly helpful! The room was very tidy, beds SO comfortable, and the kitchen had loads of room and equipment to use. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at.

Standard Room, room was clean enough, could have been vacuumed better. Bed was ok, not the most comfortable. Towels were provided in standard room. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Did not go to shared kitchen.

Delightful stay at Hostel Macarena. We were greeted by the incredibly friendly and helpful Maria, who was so welcoming and informative. The room was spotless, the beds were very comfy, and everything felt clean and well looked after. I’d definitely come back next time I’m in Manchester.

Disappointing stay with multiple avoidable issues. The room was cold on arrival and there was no way to control the heating from inside the room, reception had to access a locked cupboard outside the room to switch it on, and the receptionist seemed frustrated when I asked for help. After eating out, the room became too hot, but I didn’t feel comfortable walking down to request help from the receptionist again, so I opened the window instead, however it was very noisy from bars and nightclubs below which also meant I slept very little, with no ear plugs or mitigation offered. The room also did not match what was advertised as there was no desk which I needed to do my work from and the shower lever was stiff and difficult to switch off. Breakfast was poorly managed, I waited around 15 minutes for a coffee, was served vegan eggs because I requested non-dairy milk, then waited a further 30 minutes for eggs that never arrived and then was told it would be better to leave rather than wait for the scrambled eggs. To make matters worse, I saw a mouse in the communal kitchen area and then noticed multiple mouse traps, suggesting an ongoing problem. The only reason I didn’t give it a 1 star was because the receptionist/assistant manager named Anna was seemed genuinely empathetic and extended checkout by an hour due to breakfast delays, offered support all which I appreciated, but unfortunately, the overall experience was unacceptable and I would not stay again.
