Absolutely lovely hotel, the staff was incredible, room was exactly as described with a wonderful view and the location was fantastic. I would highly recommend a stay if your planning on visiting.

My recent stay at the Holiday Hotel in Zermatt was nothing short of magical.
What truly sets the Holiday Hotel apart is the staff. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming, Their flexibility was particularly impressive; when we encountered flight issues, the hotel made it incredibly easy for us to change our stay dates via email, responding promptly and resolving the situation with zero stress.
The team even took the time to advise us on our finances, thoughtfully reminding us to pay in the local currency (CHF) rather than Canadian Dollars (CAD) on our credit cards to ensure we received the best possible exchange rate.
Another standout moment was our final day; we had an early departure before the regular breakfast hours. Without us even asking, the front desk arranged with the kitchen to prepare on-the-go breakfast and lunch packs for our journey. It is these small, proactive gestures that turn a good stay into an unforgettable one.

So the other hotels are probably closer to the shopping, but Zermatt is a small city so you can pretty much walk anywhere. Both of our rooms have balconies with views of the Matterhorn. breakfast was included and was a great breakfast. Since there’s no AC, we just opened the door and found a way to prop the ceiling window open in the bathroom (I think we were on the top floor). It created a really nice Crossbreeze and considering that it was getting down into the 40s at night, our room was plenty cold. The staff was super nice and they let my wife charge her phone at the front desk for a couple of hours. Remember that if you were going to Switzerland, you might need a wall adapter for the power. They do not use the same kind as Europe or the USA

*Room price, cheap for Zermatt standards.
*Hotel taxi service for CHF 5 pp.
*Breakfast buffet offered, though selection limited.
*Clean room, chalet styled.
Cons:
*Location - NOT near the train station. It is a purely uphill walk and it is grueling with luggage.
*Noisy, paper thin walls.
*No hot food at breakfast. I was disappointed by this. I ate chocolate croissants and yogurt each day. No pancake/waffle making option, scrambled eggs, or bacon.
*Outdated.
*Staff not accommodating. No microwave. Acted surprised that we asked for an extra pillow.

The hotel placed us in an attic room while we booked a standard double room. The second morning when we asked for changing room, first we were told no more room, then told us we had to checked out at 10am and rechecked in at the afternoon. Since we had day plans, it made us switch rooms impossible. The attic room was way too low and we (at average heights 5’4 and 5’8) kept bumping heads even blended back all the time during two days staying.

Helpful and friendly staff. Decent location, quicker leaving than getting there due to quite a steep hill. We stayed in a room where the slope in the roof interfered with the shower which meant you couldn't use it conventionally - the only issue we had in an otherwise very pleasant stay

excellent professional and friendly reception staff, very good bar and rooms. warm and cozy bedroom with a balcony view of the mountains. The dining options for breakfast were very limited, and the attitude of the lead female staff member at the restaurant was terrible and disrespectful.

Hotel does the job for one night. The shower is strange, you do not receive any amenities and the bed was not very comfortable. The breakfast was good. Our room was right in front of a construction site and was quite loud during the day. They do not provide free transport from the train station as it requires an additional charge. Overall experience was okay.
