Nice, reasonably priced hotel in the centre of Exeter, just a few minutes' walk from the Quay and the Cathedral. Room was clean and comfortable.

Had an issue upon arrival but this was well managed by Page on reception,
The next morning Ryan from maintenance came and sorted out the problem but could not resolve the full issue
Ryan assisted a move to another room
Second room was very nice and Nida from house keeping kept the room clean and very nice

Room only so didn’t try the restaurant but lovely public areas with beautiful floral decorations ready for Halloween.
Didn’t try the leisure facilities there was an extra £10 charge which was disappointing. Staff extremely welcoming and happy to provide ideas for local eateries which are plentiful within 5 minute stroll of hotel. Beautiful city to explore

Staff nice. Room ok but it was a shame no one mentioned to me when I checked in that the heating was not working and I would need to not spend ten minutes fiddling with the unit and instead get the radiator that was hidden in the cupboard. Also the WiFi bandwidth in the evening was terrible, which is not really good enough in a modern business hotel.

Air con broken in the room, however, this was known to the hotel before we checked in as an oil heater was left in the room. Very poor service for this hotel. If the staff had mentioned it when we checked in, it would not have been an issue. Why hide it?

Staff excellent, lovely Xmas decor, breakfast was amazing. Only let down was a very uncomfortable mattress that was lumpy, uneven and you could feel the springs. One end of the bed had all but collapsed. But despite this, we would stay in a Mercure again.

The air conditioning was broken, we had to pay £10 per person to use the swimming pool and the jacuzzi was broken. Our pre booked dinner served was not the same as the menu description. A very disappointing stay. Only good thing was the staff were friendly.
