Sitting just south of Denpasar in Tuban, Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is the gateway to Bali’s beaches, temples and rice terraces – and one of the busiest airports in Indonesia. From here, you can hop across the archipelago to spots like Lombok, Labuan Bajo and Yogyakarta, or head further afield to Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo or Sydney. Whether you’re chasing surf breaks in Canggu, sunset temples in Uluwatu, or street eats in Kuta, cheap flights from Bali make it easy to keep exploring. With plenty of full-service and low-cost carriers, you can compare fares on Traveloka and plan your next island hop or international escape straight from Bali’s doorstep.
Opened in 2013, Bali’s International Terminal combines island-inspired design with modern travel comfort. It features high ceilings, Balinese-style architecture, and open spaces that set the tone for your trip. Everything’s close by: check-in counters, duty-free shops, cafés, and the Garuda Indonesia Lounge upstairs if you’re after a quiet corner. Arrivals and departures run smoothly on one level, keeping the whole experience calm and holiday-ready.
Reopened in 2014, Bali’s Domestic Terminal is efficient, practical and perfectly easy to navigate. It’s spread over two floors, with check-in and arrivals downstairs and most cafés, shops and seating upstairs. Ideal for quick island hops or connecting flights, it has that easy flow that makes travel days feel less like logistics and more like a gentle transition. You can stroll straight to the International side through Festival Plaza: a breezy walkway lined with cafés and souvenir stores that feels more like a holiday market than an airport corridor.
Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) (AKA Denpasar Airport) sits in Tuban, around 13 kilometres south of Denpasar and a short drive from Bali’s main resort areas. You can reach Kuta in 15–20 minutes, Seminyak in around half an hour, and Nusa Dua in about 35 minutes – depending on southern Bali’s notorious traffic, of course.
You can book a Traveloka Airport Transfer or car hire for a smooth arrival, or grab a Blue Bird taxi or Grab ride outside Arrivals. Most hotels offer pre-arranged pickups, while rental desks and private drivers inside the terminal make it easy to head farther to Ubud, Canggu, or the Bukit Peninsula – three of Bali’s most popular travel spots.
If you’re chasing a Bali bargain, aim for January to March. The festive crowds have cleared, fares dip, and while the wet season brings a few afternoon downpours, you’ll trade that for empty beaches and wallet-friendly flight deals. April to June can also be a sweet spot – sunny breaks before the mid-year rush hits.
Prices jump again from July through August and in December, when Aussie school holidays, dry skies, and celebrations like Lebaran and Chinese New Year fill seats fast. Want to save a few extra dollars? Midweek flights usually come out cheaper than weekends – perfect excuse to stretch that long weekend.
