Where is the airport in {destination}?

Frankfurt Airport is the biggest and busy international airport in Germany and is located 12km southwest of central Frankfurt. However, there are also other international airports in Germany including Munich Airport, Berlin Brandenberg Airport, Düsseldorf Airport and Hamburg Airport. From Frankfurt Airport, there are several transport options available once you arrive.

  • Train: The airport’s train station has direct connections to Frankfurt, Hanau, Aschaffenburg, Mainz, and Wiesbaden via the RMV (Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund). There are also long-distance trains, which can take you to other areas in Germany or Europe. Lufthansa Express Rail also services the airport from select stations in Frankfurt.
  • Bus/Shuttles: There are a number of affordable bus options, including public buses that service Frankfurt, long-distance buses that can take you further afield as well as the Lufthansa Express bus, which promises to be “fast and convenient”. Some hotels also offer complimentary shuttle buses so it pays to double check this with your accommodation provider.
  • Taxi/ ride share: Taxis are available and have an estimated cost of around  €35-€45 ($AU62 to $80) to get from Frankfurt Airport to Frankfurt’s city centre. Ride share such as Uber is also available and there is a designated pick-up and drop-off zone for this, located in the short-term parking lot P31, on the departure level at Terminal 1.
  • Car rental: It is possible to rent a car from Frankfurt Airport, with many major car rental companies including Hertz, Europcar and Avis servicing this site.

When is the cheapest time to fly to {destination}

The cheapest times to fly to Germany are generally the colder months, such as January, February and March, but consider the weather when planning activities. The shoulder season, which includes May, September and October may be ideal times to travel when the weather is still pleasant enough and prices are slightly cheaper.
