Canalta Lodge

We booked this hotel primarily because it had a gym. It's a older hotel in good location, providing free breakfast, the staff was friendly, however we found that the room and bathroom had very poor lighting which at times became very annoying. We will probably not stay at this hotel next time due to the lighting.

Great Mountain View. Breakfast not good enough. For that rate, we should have booked other adjacent hotel without complimentary breakfast.

Great hotel with friendly staff, very clean room and comfortable bed.

The stay was good, staff very courteous, however not good value for money. We paid $1800 for two adults and one teenager in one room and it was definitely not a $600 per night property. There was an issue with the cleanliness of our room at check-in but the staff resolved this ASAP and gave me a discount to compensate for the inconvenience. The last day we spent out on day trips all day, and when we returned at 5pm, our room had not been serviced. I was told that housekeeping focussed on checkouts first. Overall the property is nice and the surroundings lovely, staff very helpful and courteous, however I would not spend this much on it again.

The hotel all together was great. The bar downstairs was definitely a perk. However, only complaint is that the bathrooms in the room don’t have a fan so it got stuffy and smelled almost a little mildew-y. But it was definitely walking distance to the stores and restaurants if you’re up for a little bit of a walk. We had no problem finding free street parking during the week.

Great place!

We spent 5 nights here at the start of our 10 day trip. The staff was amazing. I received a notification from Expedia mid flight saying the card of file for the hotel was declined to please call the hotel. I called as soon as we landed in a panic(we still had a 5 hour drive) and the staff member was super nice and said he would make a note but no need to worry it can be handled when we arrive. A few things to note about the property itself. Parking is not included there is a underground lot you can pay per day to use or free street parking behind the hotel. Also the balcony have very little privacy just a heads up you can see directly down the row of 3 or 4 connecting rooms when sitting out so we didn't utilize ours as much as I had hoped when booking the room. Breakfast was great everyday and included. Good variety and the area was very clean. Cleaning services everyday did a great job. The amenities are perfect especially if you are spending your days hiking. Hot tub, sauna and cold plunge! Plus fire pits and places to sit. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would recommend just be prepared to pay for Parking and have limited to no privacy on your balcony.

Cozy room with balcony. Wonderful view and great backyard hot tubs, fireplace area to sit. Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful with supper recommendations. Perfect walking distance to Banff central for shopping and exploring.

Excellent stay, room, breakfast and staff

The staff was amazing Love the a Happy Camper area Bartenders were so friendly Love the back, so fun they had a smore’s bar We sat by the fire and roasted marshmallows

Really not worth it for the price

This was our first trip to Banff and our first stay at Canalta Lodge. We only had one small issue while we were there and the staff resolved it quickly. We would stay there again. It is a little less than a mile to the other end of downtown so sometimes we walked and when tired we jumped on the bus which was very convenient. Breakfast was good and had a lot of options.

Had no a/c first night. Staff was Amazing. Breakfast was o.k.

Great property. Outdoor features were really nice and the staff were AWESOME. Walkable to downtown and reasonably priced. Rooms are nothing special, pretty dark (no lights) and can’t open windows for light because there’s no privacy curtains. But otherwise would stay again.

A lot of amenities! Including free breakfast, hot tubs, cold plunge, and sauna. Gym is decent size also. Smores every afternoon. Even though it's the farthest away from downtown, we had a great stay here! Shout out to John at breakfast who worked so hard and the other lady. Sorry don't know her name.

A beautiful hotel away from the bustle of downtown. Nice walking distance from the action. Comfortable and cozy room with a small balcony. Breakfast was a nice addition. Loved the cafe.

Nice location. Small rooms, not a lot of room for luggage. Small bathrooms. If not requested your sheets were not changed and room not cleaned. There are no safes in the room. Nice to have breakfast in the morning.
