Parador De Limpias

Reception staff very good. Bar lady lovely and very busy with other tasks. Waiting on and dining was poor. Wrong food, some not cooked (cold in the middle chicken) tasted ‘off’ 2 chaps waiting on didn’t appear to want to serve us. Nice young lady came along and agreed the chicken wasn’t cooked. We were asked about the food - I said awful Rooms very noisy and you could hear from other rooms

Great hotel in historical building and dominating location. Really nice reception staff and bar and restaurant staff were even better. As residents we were able to access some of the restricted spaces

A very friendly welcome greeted us when we arrived at this hotel. As with all paradors cleanliness, service and comfort was excellent. Great for an overnight before catching the ferry in Santander.

Everything was delightful! From the front desk staff to the dining was everything excellent!

Very comfortable hotel with excellent food, and set in pleasant woodland with a nice shory walk through it.. The staff are friendly and efficient.

The weather was amazing and the location was excellent, The room was out of this world we were lucky enough to get an end room and it was massive. the staff could not do enough for you and they would leave little treats for you. We will most definitely be staying there again.

The consistent quality found in other Paradores, in a very nice setting. We stayed here planning to visit Bilbao, but it was a little too far from that.

The room and social areas were excellent. However both the dinner and breakfast were not as good in terms of quality or value for money.

We chose to stay at the Parador De Limpias as it has a good reputation and is only 40 mins drive from the Port of Santander. Unfortunately delays with our ferry started to make us concerned that we would arrive too late for an evening meal. However, when we contacted the Parador De Limpias from the ferry the staff proved to be very accommodating and put our minds at rest. They said that should the restaurant be closed when we arrived, they would make sure that there would be plates of cold food in our room. As it turned out we arrived at 10:00pm and had an excellent meal in the restaurant, which closed at 11:00pm. The Parador De Limpias is well appointed with all the facilities that you would expect from a quality hotel and is located in an interesting part of Spain. So 5 stars for the hotel and, of course, 5 stars for the staff.

We were upgraded to a superior room which was large and very comfortable. All aspects of the stay were good with the notable exception of the restaurant. The evening meal was expensive (£75 for two) and to our taste at least very poor value. The menu choice was limited, the portions small (compared to other restaurants in the area) and were served lukewarm. A glass of wine barely covered the bottom of the glass. On the other hand the buffet breakfast was very good

We loved our stay at the Parador in Limpias. If you haven't encountered Parador hotels before, they are a series of historic properties restored into hotels, found throughout Spain. This Parador is a restored 18th century mansion built by a Spanish nobleman. The stone building is elegant and romantic, with a comfortable café at reception, a manicured courtyard, and an excellent restaurant on site. The rooms are spacious, with modern floor to ceiling glass windows that make for an unforgettable view of the countryside. Parking is available on-site, and the grounds include nice walking paths to a nearby river. We had a car and used Limpias as our home base to explore Laredo, Bilbao, and other Basque country treasures. Highly recommend!

Nice setting in woodland. Comfortable room and very friendly staff. Lots of functions on the Saturday we arrived which might not suit some people.

Great hotel. Outstanding breakfast buffet. The indoor swimming pool area could do with some attention, it looks tired. Considering the weather in this region can be very hit and miss, it would make sense to invest in making it look nicer.

This is a wonderfully restored and modernised hotel typical of what we have come to expect of Parador establishments. The staff are friendly and helpful and always available no matter how busy. The facilities are terrific although we were a little disappointed that the outdoor pool had not yet been commissioned for the season. It was mid May but the weather was inviting us to spend time outdoors in the sunshine. The restaurant presented a wide range of fare and we had a very pleasant dinner in an admittedly quiet dining room. All the dishes we favoured were excellent. Breakfast offerings were equally impressing and we enjoyed the sunny dining room overlooking the ornate garden. Eating in the bar was also a pleasing event whether for lunch or in the evening. Sitting on the terrace over a drink again with the manicured garden to ponder was a very relaxing experience. The gym is well equipped from my observation but because the weather was so clement, it was more onviting to take a stroll along calle la mar at all stages of the tide. The colourful moored boats pained a lovely picture in contrast to the naval armements placed along part of the quay as part of the display from the War Museum. Definitely an unusual twist for a sunny stroll enjoying the surrounding natural environment. A more stretching walk up the hill offers wonderful views of the surrounding estuary and pastures and of the village buildings as well. All in all a very pleasant.
