Jakarta has three major stations and several small supporting stations that are active to serve long-distance and local commuter rail travel. The three major stations in Jakarta include:
Pasar Senen Station (PSE) is located at an altitude of +4.7 meters above sea level on Jl. Stasiun Senen No.14, Senen, Central Jakarta. This station is included in the large class A railway station under DAOP I Jakarta.
You can take long-distance trains from PSE Station in both economy and mixed classes. The west cross line connects the Jabodetabek area to Bandung, and the central cross line goes to Yogyakarta, Purwokerto, Malang, Surabaya, and Surakarta.
The station also serves local commuter trains and is on the northern line that links Cirebon, Semarang, and Surabaya. Since PSE Station is a class A main station, it has a lot of services to help it run, like parking lots, waiting rooms, restaurants, shopping centers, and machines that print tickets automatically.Â
Gambir Station (GMR) is located at Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur No.1, Gambir, Central Jakarta. This station is located at an altitude of +16 meters above sea level and is included in DAOP I Jakarta.Â
The station serves long-distance train travel for executive class and some mixed class trains as well as connecting the Jabodetabek area with Bandung on the west crossing and Malang, Surabaya, Surakarta, Jogja, and Purwokerto on the middle crossing.Â
Additionally, GMR Station links Cirebon, Semarang, and Surabaya on Java's northern cross. The busiest commuter train station in Jabodetabek is Gambir.Â
Many amenities support Gambir, a Jakarta central station. Parking, restrooms, homestays, eateries, prayer rooms, automatic ticket printers, and ticket sales desks.
Jakarta Kota Station (JAKK) is located at Jalan Stasiun Kota No.1, Pinangsia, Taman Sari, West Jakarta. DAOP I Jakarta includes this big class A station, one of several Indonesian terminal stations.Â
JAKK Station is one of Jakarta's primary stations, serving long-distance train travel in central Java and commuter trains between southern and northern Jabodetabek, including North Jakarta, South Jakarta, Depok, Bekasi, and Bogor.Â
Similar to other Jakarta stations, JAKK Station has extensive support facilities. From parking, bathrooms, automatic ticket printers, direct ticket purchasing counters, restaurants, shops, and prayer rooms.Â
Meanwhile, Garut as a destination also has several active train stations, including:
Garut Station (GRT) is a class II station located in Pakuwon, Garut Kota, Garut. Located at an altitude of +717 meters above sea level, the station is included in the Bandung Operational Area (DAOP) II.
As Garut Regency's major station, Garut Station served passengers and cargo. Since 1983, the station had been inactive, but the Ministry of Transportation's Directorate General of Railways BTP Jabar (now BTP Bandung) reactivated it.
Also known as Kadungora station. Small class III stop Leles Station (LL) is part of DAOP II Bandung. The station is located +697 meters above sea level in Kadungora, Garut, West Java.Â
Trains from western Java (Pangandaran and Cikuray) and southern Java (Malabar, Kahuripan, Pasundan, and Serayu) stop at this station. It also serves local and commuter trains on the Commuter Line Garut.
Located in Cibatu, Garut, West Java, Cibatu Station (+612 m) is a class II railway station included in DAOP II Bandung. The station serves the route of the western cross Java Pangandaran and Cikuray trains, the southern cross Java Lodaya, Serayu, and Pasundan trains, as well as local and Commuter Line Garut.
At last, Cipeundeuy Station (+772 meters above sea level) lies on Jl. Raya Bandung-Tasikmalaya, Cikarang, Malangbong, and Garut. DAOP II Bandung requires all southern Java trains to stop at this station.Â
Although a class II station, Cipeundeuy Station (CPD) has complete facilities. A parking lot, automatic ticket printer, waiting space, restroom, prayer room, and direct ticket-buying counter are available.Â
Jakarta to Garut is 284.6 km. The travel time by train is 5 hours and 10 minutes. After Gang Sentiong Station, Kemayoran Station leads to Cikarang.Â
The Purwakarta-bound train stops at Wanaraja Station before Garut Station. As the terminus, Garut Station has no successor. Leles Station is the destination of the earliest Jakarta-Garut train at 09.25 WIB. Cipeundeuy Station is the penultimate stop for this route at 20:10 WIB.
Getting from Jakarta to Garut by train is easy. Depart from Pasar Senen Station to Leles, Cibatu, Cipeundeuy, and Garut Stations.Â
The Serayu or Cikuray trains are good for getting from Jakarta's Pasar Senen Station to Garut Station. It's only IDR 45.000 per person to ride either of these trains.
