More popularly known as Sireks, Siantar Express Train is a service from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) for the intercity Medan-Pematang Siantar journey. This trip is connected through the relation of Medan Station and Pematang Siantar Station. The management of Siantar Express railway is currently under the control of the Regional Division 1 of North Sumatra and Nanggroe Aceh Darusalam.

The History of The Train
PT. KAI brings KA Siantar Ekspres as a replacement of KA Dolok Martimbang. Thus, Siantar Express Train is currently the only train serving the Medan-Siantar route. PT KAI (Persero) through Regional Division 1 North Sumatra has officially changed the frequency of Siantar Express rail travel since September 2013. The frequency of trips which were originally twice, has now become only once day.
Train series
KA Siantar Express or Sireks Train is a fairly short train. In operation, the towing of the whole series of trains are BB302 locomotive, BB303, and sometimes CC201. The series drawn consists of three Economy class trains and one generator train.

Mainstay to Lake Toba
Currently, Siantar Express train is one of the trains operating on the Medan-Pematang Siantar line.
