Gambir Station

Gambir Station is a train station located in the heart of Jakarta. The location of this station is adjacent to the Jakarta icon, the National Monument (Monas). Not far from the station, there is also the Istiqlal Mosque and the Cathedral Church. Gambir Station was built during the Dutch colonial era and was heavily renovated in the 1990s. The station is under the management of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Jakarta Regional Operations I and categorized as a type A large station. To reach Gambir Station is relatively easy. Transportation access that can be used includes Transjakarta, taxis, and DAMRI buses on the Gambir-Soekarno Hatta Airport route.

Interesting Information About Gambir Station

It was a swamp land in the past

Gambir Station did not stand as grand as it was in the beginning. In the past, the Gambir area was a swampy land with the land owner named Anthony Paviljoen. Over time, the land continued to change ownership until it finally became the modern Gambir Station.

In 2015, PT KAI launched a transit hotel facility at Gambir Station. There are three types of rooms, namely VIP, single bed room, twin bed room or double bed room. The length of stay that can be chosen is also flexible, from 6 hours, 8 hours, 12 hours to 24 hours. Existing facilities such as other transit hotel standards, marked by the presence of wifi, TV, and water heater.
