Jatinegara Station (JNG) is a major Type A train station located on the border of Matraman and Jatinegara districts in East Jakarta. It is managed by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Operation Area I Jakarta and serves as one of the five main train stations in the DKI Jakarta province.

2. Originally Named Meester Cornelis

Initially, Jatinegara Station was named Stasiun Meester Cornelis, after the area's name. This was because the Jatinegara area was owned by a Dutchman named Cornelis van Senen. After he died in 1661, the area was named Meester Cornelis in his honor, with the addition of "Meester" (master/teacher).
