Great location in Melbourne, wasn’t sure what to expect as the entrance isn’t very inviting but once you get up to the reception level there was a nice bar and restaurant area. Lots of people use the hotel for business. Very good breakfast which was included, one of the best I’ve had. I’d stay here again.

While this hotel is conveniently located in the heart of the Melbourne CBD, it is looking a little tired and in need of a refurbishment. The biggest concern was the long delay in the elevators owing to the fact that 2 of the 3 elevators were out of service during my stay. All in all, the hotel is reasonable value.

Bed was on lean so legs higher than head. Mattress old and sank in middle and to the side. Rooms were hot even with aircon cranked and middle winter. Very run down, lifts not working. Hallways smelt of sewer in mornings. Paper thin walls - could hear neighbours conversations. Breakfast was average and long waits if you wanted fresh eggs or omelette

The location is convenient; however, the swimming pool and gym are quite small. Additionally, the staff did not disclose that the room has a limited view. Breakfast was acceptable; however, there were no complimentary amenities provided. In addition, the water supplied in the room was simply tap water poured into a bottle, which did not feel safe to drink.

When I made the booking, I specifically requested a room with two beds for 2 adults and 2 children. However, upon arrival, we discovered that we had been allocated two separate rooms under two different bookings, located at opposite ends of the building. When we asked the Novotel staff to help us understand what had happened, we were told that we would need to contact Expedia directly, as the booking had been made through your platform. We were very disappointed that the hotel staff were unable to provide further assistance or help resolve the issue.

The hotel is starting to tire. Staff in general were really pleasant and helpful but queue management at check-in was a challenge at a busy time leading into a long weekend. Concierge were really welcoming from street level. After staying nearly a week, the situation with the lifts was problematic on multiple occasions. There are 2 lifts from street level but only 1 appeared to work often leading to queues at either end. Then with the 3 main lifts accessing all floors of the hotel, to have only 1 of these working all week led to delays, queues and really crowded lifts. There was a note near one of the lifts mentioning the staff were aware of the issue and working on it; and I am not sure how long it had been going on, but this certainly was a downer. There was also a tray of room service food left outside a room on Level 12 for about 48 hours which is a pretty poor sign of attention to detail. Other than that, the location and general comfort at the hotel was really great.

Location was awesome but it ended there Room on the 14th floor, really dirty, carpet ripped, wallpaper peeling off the walls, tap in the bathroom sink broken out of the basin, one broken lift and the other two were overloaded, when I alerted reception she just shrugged. Probably better around for the price

Excellent location but not up to a Novotel standard…only one lift for over 300 rooms. A nightmare especially as the only working one broke down with myself, my granddaughter and other people in it albeit for a very short time…used fire escape and ended up in some back lane…had to ask directions to get back to the front of the hotel…told reception staff but just seemed fed up with the situation…really long walk from room to lift…door cards were cancelled a day early…overcharged for breakfasts..awaiting refund…there seemed to be no management in the restaurant. Staff tried their best and were very polite but disorganised…lack of cleanliness around the breakfast area.spilt food, coffee juice…no plates for toast, missing bacon or beans etc…although choice was good..enjoyed a well cooked evening meal… I have used many Novotel especially at Auckland airport…always excellent but this one in Melbourne needs much attention… sorry but will not use again or recommend and think twice about using the brand…
