Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding - Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, or simply Chengdu Panda Base, is a non-profit research and breeding facility for giant pandas and other rare animals. It is located in Chengdu, Sichuan, China. Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with six giant pandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, and the captive panda population has grown to 83. Its stated goal is to ""be a world-class research facility, conservation education centre, and international educational tourism destination. Chengdu Panda Base has partnered with many organisations in improving ways to conserve giant pandas. For example, its partnership with Zoo Atlanta helped the zoo secure the loan of 2 giant pandas. To date, these two giant pandas, Yang Yang and Lun Lun, have produced five off-spring: Mei Lan in 2006, Xi Lan in 2008, Po born on November 3, 2010, and Mei Lun and Mei Huan in 2013.
2. Mount Qingcheng - Mount Qingcheng is a mountain in Dujiangyan, Sichuan, China. It is considered one of the birthplaces of Taoism (Daoism) and one of the most important Taoist centres in China. In Taoist mythology, it was the site of the Yellow Emperor's studies with Ning Fengzi. As a centre of the Taoist religion, it became host to many temples. The mountain has 36 peaks. It is home to Dujiangyan Giant Panda Center and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mount Qingcheng was affected by the Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008.
3. Du Fu Thatched Cottage - Du Fu Thatched Cottage is a 24-acre (97,000 m2) park and museum in honour of the Tang dynasty poet Du Fu at the western outskirts of Chengdu, adjacent to the Huanhua Xi (Flower Rinsing Creek). In 1961 the Chinese government established Du Fu Thatched Cottage as a National Heritage site. In 759 Du Fu moved to Chengdu, built a thatched hut near the Flower Rinsing Creek and lived there for four years. The ""thatched hut"" period was the peak of Du Fu's creativity, during which he wrote two hundred and forty poems, among them ""My Thatched Hut was torn apart by Autumn Wind"" and ""The Prime Minister of Shu"". Du Fu Thatched Cottage is now a popular destination for Du Fu enthusiasts around the world to pay tribute to the poet.
