The Hotel/Pub is very clean and has a reasonably extensive food and drinks menu. My room (9) was a little small but as a single occupant, it was very adequate. It had a kettle and all the condiments, including some biscuits. A water jug was also supplied. The staff were very attentive and professional. A quick shout to Amelia who went out of her way to provide perfect customer satisfaction. I have stayed before and will definitely stay again.

Spotlessly clean accommodation. Comfy bed. Lovely staff. First class chef for both dinner and breakfast (which was huge). Cracking stay!

Sadly, this property doesn’t offer a breakfast. Also the pub’s restaurant doesn’t offer roast dinners during the week, only weekends. The restaurant just outside the pub has a brilliant full English breakfast menu and great coffee. It called The Old Grain Store and I would really recommend eating in this lovely restaurant.

We booked for 1 night and were pleasantly surprised at how fantastic the location was so decided to stay for 2 nights. The room was a large corner room that was light and airy with a great wall mounted TV. Also the room had an equally large and very clean bathroom. The great positive of this pub is that they allow dogs to stay and this was the major reason for us booking. The staff were so dog friendly it was lovely to see. Now, for the negatives…to access the room we had to climb 30 steps up. This might not seem a lot for people without respiratory conditions, but for us it was a huge challenge. I would suggest the owners must explain this for people like us oldies with disabilities then you have the full picture of what staying in a pub is like. Next, the room was great but the carpet was grubby and needs replacing, it’s a pale colour and I would suggest a grey flecked colour or something similar so that stains are not visible. The bed was quite creaky and had seen better days, although comfy enough as the mattress was of reasonable quality. Food in the pub’s restaurant is not up to a standard you would expect in a normal restaurant. Our first night the two restaurant staff were rude as they initially ignored us but later apologised and offered us a free meal. Second night completely different as the staff were brilliant and service was Impeccable. The young blonde lady really has a great future in this industry, as she is professional, fun and she’s a credit to your pub.

I recently stayed at this hotel and found that its location is one of its biggest strengths. It’s close to plenty of shops and restaurants, and the lively pub downstairs adds a lot of character and energy to the place. There were, however, a few areas where the experience didn’t quite meet expectations, and I hope this feedback is helpful for both management and future guests. Breakfast Issue Breakfast wasn’t available on Saturday morning at the time confirmed in my booking and at check‑in, due to the kitchen staff being unable to access the kitchen. The staff member on duty did their best and suggested I go to another restaurant and request a refund later. Unfortunately, when I spoke with the manager, the interaction felt dismissive, and the hotel only refunded the nominal breakfast cost rather than honouring the original arrangement. Clearer communication and a more guest‑focused approach would really improve this. Room Cleanliness The room carpet hadn’t been cleaned before my arrival and had a visible stain, and the room wasn’t serviced on the second day. Small details like this make a big difference to the overall stay. Room Condition A few maintenance issues stood out: mould around the bath, a broken shower fitting that made it difficult to wash comfortably, and a vanity mirror that couldn’t be adjusted. These are all fixable and would help elevate the guest experience.
