The Ship Inn

Die beiden Zimmer der Suite waren sehr schön, leider funktionierte in einem der beiden Räume die Deckenbeleuchtung nicht. Wir hatten das am ersten Abend gemeldet, ein Handwerker kam am späten Nachmittag des nächsten Tages. Es gab wohl einen Kurzschluss, wenn eine der Brunnen Nachttischlampen eingeschaltet wurde. Die Lösung: Die Lampe nicht mehr einschalten. Abgesehen davon waren nur für 2 Gäste Handtücher vorhanden (wir waren 4). Erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen bekamen wir die fehlenden Handtücher. Frühstück gab es ab 9 Uhr, was und am Abreisetag etwas Stress verursachte, da wir unseren Zug erwischen mussten, ein früheres Frühstück, auch in Form eines To Go Paketes war nicht möglich. Insgesamt wirkte das Personal leider eher lustlos. Schade, denn das Haus ist wirklich schön.

Good value hotel. Basic rooms that are clean and simply decorated. Great location right in the centre with easy access to everything. Dog friendly too.

Great location right in the centre of Rye and the staff were helpful. The room was bright and well cleaned. Enjoyed the breakfast. Would have been nice to get a bit more ventilation as the weather was so hot. Also the WI-FI was rather unreliable, working at first and then stopping. Overall, a good experience and would recommend.

Not having AC is common, but the only fan was not even near the window so your room is hotter than it was outside. No water refill after we asked and the young blonde lady seemed very annoyed any time we asked for ice.

Lovely very old pub in fabulous location. There is limited parking (3 spaces), but we could park on the road, ( free between 6pm and 9am). Check in was easy. Room was at top up several flights of stairs. Room was compact, with a step up to the bathroom. Fan to help cool room. Normal selection of tea and coffee with usual biscuits. Fresh milk was provided on check in. Compact bathroom with a shower. Sink was too small with a shelf and soap bottle above it , making it difficult to use for washing or shaving. We dined in the bar, no tables available in reception. Steak night on Thursdays. Good value. We didn't have breakfast. Check out was easy.

Perfect location right in the heart of Rye. The staff are friendly and helpful. I very good cooked breakfast. I Would recommend the ship inn

Gammel pub med hotellrom over. 2-4 cm åpning under dør til korridor. Føltes ikke helt trygt. Frokosten var ikke påbegynt til kl 0900.

Lovely hotel, restaurant, bar, in an excellent location for shopping etc in Rye. Very good value for money. There is no free car parking but the pay & display/RINGO is immediately next door and less than a tenner a day. We can highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel with friendly staff in a great location. We used this as a stopover on our way to the channel tunnel and it was perfect. 5-star

My initial impression wasn’t great. The hotel part was really in need of a good lick of paint and a new carpet. That said, it is a very old building so some allowances should be made. The bed in the room was very comfortable with fresh white linen and fluffy pillows. The bathroom was tiny but modern and clean. The staff was nice and very welcoming of my little dog. The bar is stylishly decorated in keeping with its age but with a modern edge. As a solo traveller I didn’t fancy staying up late in the bar and found the staff were very accommodating when I asked to take a glass of wine to my room. I was then able to relax on the bed and watch the massive TV (England v Croatia FIFA World Cup). I was given a key to the main door which was great for late night and early morning dog wees. Breakfast was delicious (Eggs Royale)

Bar closed early - even to residents! Staff were very friendly - room was great although decoratively a little tired - breakfast was good - only one cup of coffee or tea offered, would be better with a pot of tea or coffee. Generally a good place to stay

Rigtig hyggeligt og pænt sted. Ligger for enden af Mermaid street, den hyggeligste gade i Rye, så man bor med fantastisk placering. Værelserne er pæne og rene. Man skal dog nå frem til hotellet inden kl. 20, for da går personalet hjem og kommer først tilbage næste morgen.

A comfortable bed and the premium coffee and tea of offer

Really great stay very clean excellent service nothing was too much trouble…. good location and central. The only slight issue was the wifi which wasn’t stable or consistent other than that would definitely recommend thanks very much

Lovely comfortable clean room, very helpful staff. There was no air conditioning and we couldn’t open the windows and we stayed during a heatwave so the room was very hot. Next time probably wouldn’t pay for breakfast as there are lots of excellent cafes close by

Room and en suite was lovely. We had dinner in the bar which was tasty and staff where polite. Number of car parks within walking distance and well placed to explore the town

Good location and fairly priced. Suite room was good for us as a family and TVs were large. Staff were quite busy (they are also running a busy bar and restaurant) but generally helpful. No fridge in the room but generally good.

Friendly welcome from Dwayne, lovely atmosphere and a really good breakfast after a very comfortable nights sleep.

Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival and during our stay. A pleasant and well located Hotel/Pub that met our needs. Room was small, but it says that in the description, so no complaints from us unlike others who obviously hadn't bothered to read the room descriptions. Comfortable bed and decent pillows which were most welcome. Would stay again.
