We had a wonderful stay at Park Plaza. We had a superior room with a Danube view. The room itself was extremely spacious and came with all the amenities. A fridge, cups, glasses, tea, coffee and a kettle and a wine opener. Our shower water pressure was fantastic and everything was spotless. The hotel is close to absolutely everything: tram, buses, trains and lots of lovely cafes and restaurants. Not to mention the view from our room was to die for. The spa and sauna are also very clean and modern and it’s great that we had use of them. I highly recommend Park Plaza to anyone visiting Budapest.

Positives: friendly staff, good location on Buda side, nice foyer. Didn’t try the food so can’t comment. Dislikes: ‘superior’ rooms are not 4* quality. We changed rooms after 2 nights. First room was internal with no natural light looking out at the lift and breakfast hall. Due to constant music playing through indoor speakers from 7am until after 10pm (only turned it off when we asked) we weren’t able to rest well in between exploring. Second room was better location overlooking a courtyard. Was quiet, but needed some tlc. Stained carpets, shower hose split and spraying everywhere, blocked drain in bath, pillows had hairs underneath pillowcases (both rooms) hairdryer was an 80’s relic and damaged. Was a cheap trip, but expected a higher standard and so unlikely to return.

Overall, this is a nice hotel in an amazing location on the river. Great budget choice that served us well as an excellent base in the Castle District. The breakfast was absolutely fab - fresh and tasty - loads of choice. The view from our room was incredible. The shower gel in our room was empty but the housekeepers were very friendly and helpful and sorted it quickly. Small fridge kept things nice and cool. Check in and out was easy and efficient. We ate in the restaurant twice for dinner and while it was very good quality, it was a little limited in terms of selection. Gold members: We weren't upgraded and didn't receive the 20% food benefit - so don't book if you're expecting this!

Lovely hotel with beautiful extremely spacious rooms. The housekeeping was the only thing letting it down. The rooms aren’t serviced unless you ask, but I feel that in a 5 day stay we shouldn’t have to ask each day for tea bags and milk. It should be topped up and bins emptied daily so they don’t smell. Also, the shower gel was empty on arrival, which should have been checked as I didn’t find out until I was in it! Having to wash myself with shampoo after a full day’s travelling wasn’t ideal.

Room was clean and staff were polite but on checking, didn’t really engage and tell me about the hotel amenities. I had an issue with the fan on the ac/heater not turning off an inserted if fixing it, the power was merely switched off so it didn’t work so I still had no control of the temperature. As I had had some dental work, I asked at lunch time if the kitchen would be able to make Me some Scrambled eggs or something like that for evening meal and was told that they couldn’t - at dinner time, I got a taxi to another hotel who were more than happy to oblige. I responded to an email from Expedia about my checking experience and was surprised to then get a phone call from reception staff enquiring about my negative comments. This is not appropriate at all, and I would consider to be very rude.
