The name was said to derive from an Orang asli named Tut. He was a brave man who would go hunting and fishing on a boat, and to carry goods via the dangerous rapids abound in the river. However, on one fateful day, Tut’s boat overturned at one of the rapids, and sadly, he drowned and died. The place where he died was named as Jeram Tut which means rapid. With the passage of time, and the way the Pahang dialect is spoken, the place name simply became "Jerantut".
In Pahang history, it is famous as the place where patriots, Datuk Bahaman, Tok Gajah and Mat Kilau, fought battles against the British colonialists in the late 19th century.
It is the gateway to Taman Negara and other nearby nature and adventure sites, Jerantut town provides the tourists and visitors with the necessary conveniences and services, with its shops and affordable budget hotels.

By Plane
From Kuala Lumpur, either through KLIA2 or Subang Airport, take a flight to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Airport, Kuantan Pahang.

From Integrated Bus Terminal (TBS), you can take a bus straight to Jerantut.

Cameron Highlands
Situated at the north-western tip of Pahang, it is sited approximately 90 kilometres from Ipoh, roughly 200 kilometres from Kuala Lumpur or about 355 kilometres from Kuantan, the capital of Pahang. It is the smallest constituency in Pahang, yet the most extensive hill station in Malaysia. It becomes one of Malaysia’s most visited attraction centres by either locals or foreigners. Taman Negara
Kuala Tahan National Park is the largest national park in Peninsular Malaysia. It is famous for its tropical rainforest, birds, insects, river, wildlife and indigenous tribes. The dry season runs from February to September, which is the best time to visit the park. The peak tourist season is from April to August. Tourists sometimes get to see the indigenous way of making their living in the jungle. There are activities held at night such as jungle trekking and few more. Do bring own medication and especially insects repellent for own comfort.
