Desaru Ostrich Farm is a renowned ostrich farm located in Teluk Ramunia, Kota Tinggi, in the state of Johor. Being the only own of its kind around the area, the farm boasts more than 100 of ostriches placed in secured parameters where these birds can roam freely, yet the visitors would have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the ostriches. This is indeed an interesting opportunity for visitors to interact and connect with these animals, getting to know them better as a species.
Upon entering the farm, a personal guide will be assigned to guide the visitors throughout the whole farm, which is also usually the caretaker of these ostriches. Since the caretaker would know these birds very well, expect some interesting facts of these ostriches to be told and shared. Inside the farm too, there are a multitude of related products being sold as souvenirs such as lamp shades and ostrich eggs. For the adrenaline junkies, they can opt to partake on riding the ostrich with an extra fee should the urge to go for a challenge rises. The farm is open daily from 10 am to 6 pm and as for the admission fees, adults are charged at twelve ringgit per head whereas children would cost eight ringgit per head.
People driving from Kuala Lumpur may drive through the North-South Highway / E2 for a direct access to Desaru Ostrich Farm. The journey could take up around four hours and forty-five minutes depending on the current traffic situation.
The express bus terminal is located at Kota Tinggi Trade Centre which is located inside the Kota Tinggi town. Take the trip directly to Kota Tinggi from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan (TBS) terminal using express bus services such as Transnasional Express or Mayang Sari Express before opting for local buses or taxis to go to Desaru Ostrich Farm.
