Port Dickson, or PD to locals, is a district and coastal town in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Port Dickson is also a beach resort destination at Negeri Sembilan in Malaysia, about 90km south from Kuala Lumpur and 30km away from Seremban. From PD's town center, a coastline of warm beaches and calm seas as well as amazing view can be seen along the journey towards Malacca, ending at the tip of Cape Rachado (Tanjung Tuan). Port Dickson began history as a small Malay village inhabited by fishermen and traders. It used to be first known as 'Arang', which means coal, a reference to a carbon mine in the area. A British official named Sir Frederic Dickson turned Arang into a port for transporting the rich tin ore deposits from Sungai Ujong to Klang. The town was renamed Port Dickson (after the official) and became a busy, railway-linked harbour. The most popular beach zones along this stretch are Teluk Kemang, Blue Lagoon, Bagan Pinang and Pantai Cahaya Negeri, along with major hotels, resorts and apartments that offer budget and luxury family accommodation.
Port Dickson is home to a museum for the Malaysian Army and one of the top places to visit in Port Dickson is here. There are two sides to the museum which is the galleries covering the military history of the Malay Peninsular and the old military place of which you can climb on. It is the armored cars and helicopters that’ll be more interesting to kids. For the history side, there are two buildings and a tunnel covering events and exhibits from early European involvement all the way to UN peacekeeping. Besides that, there is ostrich farm and other animals to watch. The guests can feed the ostrichs and also ride on them. Anyone under 40kg can have a ride and it costs RM10 for kids and RM15 for an adult. Besides that, PD Ostrich Show Farm is also the gateway to several other major attractions along the same road, dubbed the 9 Wonders of Port Dickson. These other attractions are Dinosaurs in the Jungle, Man’s BFF Café (Malaysia’s first dog café) and PD Extreme Jungle Park. All these 3 attractions can be accessed directly from PD Ostrich Farm.Other than that, Tanjung Tuan Forest Reserve is technically protected and maintained forest by the state of Melaka but is located in Port Dickson. The coastal forest is about 30 hectares and perched at the top is the the Tanjung Tuan or Cape Rochado Lighthouse.
