Quiet hotel, no one bother us throughout our stay. Room is spacious, bathtub at the balcony is a plus point, quiet pool, and quiet hotel. Cleanliness of our room need lots of improvement, sticky floor, service need lot of improvement!
- Romantic Vacation
Great place. However due to the storm, we were trapped on the roads to batu feringgi and could not go back to the hotel until 8am the next day. Lone pine was nice enough to extend our check-out until 3pm so we could sleep in and rest.
- Romantic Vacation
Perfect stay for couples, will definitely come back again
- Family vacation
The only complaint is regarding F&B for service. Food is average.
Everthing was good other than the dirty swimming pool.
- Family vacation
Excellent and lovely hotel. Will come again soon
- Romantic Vacation
The hotel is beautiful with spacious bedroom and direct access to the beach. The bath tub on the balcony was a very nice touch. Loads of options for the breakfast too.
- Family vacation
Overall is ok because this is my 2nd stay...we are booking 4 rooms but one of the room air condition is not well working. some of the room is not ready by the check in time so have to wait for the housekeeping.
- Family vacation
Very poor service especially by front desk. Rooms not well maintained and full of ants. Only good thing is the breakfast.
- Business travel
They are super accommodative towards my request. Will always be my favourite hotel in Penang.

We were booked a 3 night stay at the end of our malaysia tour and we were disappointed to arrive at this hotel. We were greeted by reception staff and given juice and fresh wipe which unfortunately smelt of chlorine. We stayed in a premier room (871) which was in the old colonial part of the hotel. On entering the room it smelt stale and fusty. On opening the sliding balcony doors the runners were ditched with dirt and dead insects the paintwork was chipped and worse still the wooden window frame was rotten. The furnishings on the balcony were very worn with a day bed that was stained. The voile curtains were heavily stained with mould and dead insects present. The vallance on the beds were also heavily stained a positive is the actual bed sheets and duvet were clean. The door to the bathroom had finger prints all over obviously from the previous occupants. The shower was very slow to drain and at times you were left standing in water. Toilettress were available and repleshed daily. The bath was not used as it appeared unused for some time and did not look appealing. The bungalow restaurant was very tired with shabby furnishings and the canopy looked dirty. Breakfast was only adequate limited fresh fruit majority from cans and juices from cartons under cooked eggs inspite of asking for well done eggs. Food and beverages at lunch were fine and prices were good. Only a few staff appeared interested in there work most just stood around talking. Sun beds and parasols were very dirty but were always available the pool guys did a good job of keeping pool clear of falling leaves. The hotel has access to the beach were watersports are available beach hawkers are around but a pleasant no thanks and they leeve you alone. Beware of the polluted river at the side of the hotel which allows dirty water to flow into the ocean. In the evenings the street outside the hotel has markets stalls selling cheap immatation goods. It is such a shame that the mananagement have allowed a boutique hotel to become so run down particulary the colonial buildings.

Very peaceful but needs some TLC
The hotel is right on the main strip but all the rooms face onto the pool / beach so road noise is not an issue - we got used to the early morning calling from the nearby mosque. The breakfast is good but some mornings we had to wait for a table or sit in the little lobby area. The weather was pretty stormy when we were there so we had the dinner buffet on Saturday night which was well worth the money. Other nights we went to the food court on the right through the market ( the market is mostly just selling poor fakes and tat from China ) The bedroom was large with a separate bedroom and a huge balcony and small plunge pool.Clean towels and sheets every day and a plentiful supply of toiletries. The whole place was very clean but it is also very tatty, huge chips off the paintwork, rotten wood around the shower cubicle and scruffy sun beds and pool umbrellas. We were there at the beginning of November and although there were a lot of people staying there it was peaceful and it does not seem to cater for children ! The staff were lovely and added nice touches like bringing cold flannels and ice lollies and iced water to us as we lounged by the pool. Couple of good beach huts for lunch but you have to dodge the massage and sports vendors on the way. The bus (101) to Georgetown stops virtually outside the door, runs about every ten minutes and costs 2.5 r pp. ! It takes about 40 minutes but is a good way to see some local areas Overall a nice week but would be much nicer if a bit of decorating was undertaken. It looks a bit unloved.

Wonderful Stay at Lone Pine
We stayed at Lone Pine for two weeks from 22 Oct to 4 Nov, coming from the USA. The amenities were very adequate and our room linens were fresh every day unless we requested they not make up our room. We were surprised with a bottle of red wine and a tray of fruit in our room - I'm sure since we had booked an extended stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Edward was a great help in pointing out a clinic when my husband needed some medication for an upper respiratory infection. The bus stand was within a couple hundred feet and the food courts and restaurants were all within a short walking distance. The breakfast was good and had a large selection to choose from. We walked along the beach several times and found it relaxing and clean. The in house restaurant, Japanese had excellent food as we treated ourselves on our last evening. The only thing we didn't like seeing is the hotel allowing brackish water to be dumped out into the ocean by digging out the sand at the end of the property line to the ocean. They should really care for the environment a bit more. Overall we had an excellent experience.

Nice place on the beach
This is a modest, but pretty nice hotel on the beach. The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet has a *lot* of food to choose from. The desk staff are professional, but the wait staff are a little amateurish -- it was sometimes hard to get their attention, and I received someone else's bill once. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised, and I recommend the hotel.

A little faded
We stayed one night. At first glance it was a wow but the hotel needs a bit of rework. The rooms are large, we had a sea facing room on the 1st floor that also had a nice balcony. The outside cushions on the balcony were stained. The bedsheets had a musty smell to them. Bathroom amenities were fine and the hotel provided bathrobes as well as a man and woman’s sarong for the pool, which was very nice. We lunched and breakfasted in The Bungalow restaurant. Food not bad. The check in staff was good. The location is convenient for outside restaurants and after dinner walk/shopping, just right outside the hotel property.
