Known as the capital city of Ilocos Norte province, Laoag is located on the north-western area of Luzon. It is the trade, commerce and tourism center in the region. The visitors can explore different types of museums, heritage sites and shopping malls across the city. The locals always referred to the city as the Sunshine City. It is because Laoag does not receive rainfall quite often. Instead it faces more sunshine in all year round.
Iloilo and Laoag have a dry and wet season. The peak season in Laoag happens from June to August, during the dry season. Whereas, the wet season is the low season of the city which falls around May to September. The visitors will have their chance to travel around the city and have fun doing outdoor activities during the dry season since the weather is excellent. Iloilo International Airport is situated about 18.1 kilometers from the city center. By taking a taxi, it will cost around 400 PHP.
Laoag International Airport - Laoag International Airport operates for the area in Laoag. It is the only airport in Ilocos Norte. This airport handles for domestic and international airlines. Among the airlines are Philippine Airlines, Royal Air Philippines and All Nippon Airways. The distance between this airport and Laoag city is about 7.5 kilometers. For those prefers taking a cab, the fare will be around 254.83 PHP.
Iloilo and Laoag face a tropical climate which consists of the dry and wet season. The average annual temperature of Laoag is 26.7 degrees Celsius. Visitors shouldn't visit Laoag during the wet season due to heavy rainfall and typhoons. Hence, the dry season is the perfect timing for visitors to drop by to famous landmarks and explore around the city. Most of the days, the city receives more sunshine and humid weather with less rainfall.
