More about hotels in Canada
Plan your Canadian hotel stays by destination
A trip to Canada can centre on one city or combine several distinct parts of the country. Choose the places where you will spend your days before comparing accommodation. Vancouver in British Columbia and Toronto in Ontario are separate city stays; a province-wide search is useful for discovery, but a city or neighbourhood is a more precise starting point for choosing a room.
Compare Vancouver and Toronto bases
Vancouver hotels suit a West Coast city visit. Stanley Park brings forest, beaches and a seawall into the urban itinerary, so the city can work for travellers who want outdoor time alongside dining and sightseeing. Choose a hotel address around the places you expect to visit regularly, rather than assuming that every Vancouver listing serves the same outings.
Toronto accommodation offers a different city experience. The downtown core, waterfront and other neighbourhoods have distinct settings. Base yourself around the part of the city where you plan to spend your time; a hotel chosen for a downtown itinerary is a different comparison from accommodation chosen for visits farther across the city.
Separate the province from the place you will stay
Ontario stays include destinations beyond Toronto. The same principle applies elsewhere in Canada: choosing a province does not complete the location decision. Narrow the search to the city or locality on your itinerary before comparing hotel addresses, particularly when you are combining city days with a separate part of the trip.
For a longer holiday, divide the accommodation into stays that follow your route. For a visit to friends or family, their location may be a better anchor than a sightseeing district. Compare the room arrangement and included services for each leg, then use guest reviews to judge the aspects of the stay that matter to you. There is no need for one hotel to serve every purpose of a multi-destination journey.
