This was a lovely hotel in an old mill. Breakfast was included and good with a simple buffet style in the lovely dining room. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Parking was good and easy at a cost. The spa was free but unfortunately we didn’t have our swimmers with us. Great location with easy walking distance to the city and restaurants.

Really enjoyed our stay here! Excellent buffet breakfast, nice room and bar and restaurant areas. And a real plus being able to work out in the gym and use the lovely pool, sauna and hot tub after. Easy walk into Chester which is a great little city to explore!

On arrival the first thing is more or less £12 per night to park your car thanks very much. The room was clean but the room was very warm so the patio door was open to keep cool (patio door couldn't be closed properly as it doesn't line up into it's guide) with the door being open the road noise is a delight, not shore when the room we had was refurbished but I would say it was done on a budget. Breakfast staff are really nice the food was good but basic sausage, bacon, fried or scrambled eggs, beans, halved tomatoes, toast A few cereals. The tea pots seem to be past there best or maybe a good clean would help with there appearance. The bar looks nice we didn't get to use it as we were out and about.

First impressions in walking into the hotel were superb, modern, bright & clean with really helpful & pleasant staff. The bar & food were also really good, excellent food & service with drinks very reasonably priced. However the room was very dated & not that clean, certainly needs a refresh, & this was a canal side balcony room on the fifth floor with a jacuzzi bath. The balcony itself was dirty, with loose flags & large cobwebs not somewhere that nice to sit out on & this was middle of June. Also really disappointed with breakfast, vastly different quality from the bar food, overall poor with very little hot choices for vegetarians if they also don’t eat eggs. No hash browns or mushrooms, toast pre cooked & sat under a heat lamp to dry out. Although we paid extra for full English breakfast we didn’t bother with it on the second day & went a local pub instead, a lot better choice available & a lot nicer food. Overall I was disappointed with the Mill Spa, as a hotel, but would certainly stop by for lunch & a drink but wouldn’t stay there again, until rooms are updated, refreshed with hopefully air conditioning added.

Reception and check-in were fine. Room was conveniently on second floor of main building so has easy access to pool/spa and restaurants. Room was fine - standard fare. Very warm initially (had to have fan going half the night which disturbed sleep) but better second. Curtains didn't block out the light at top or bottom. Had view of canal which was nice, but looked straight out at pedestrian walkway to other block so had to keep nets closed. Swimming pool was lovely (quiet at 3.00pm on Monday) and wish stay was longer to have checked out gym which looked well-equipped. Service and food at Rialto Bar was excellent - quiet if you sit away from the large TV in the bar area. Breakfast was also pretty standard - buffet hot buffet, limited cereal, limited pastries, limited yoghurts and fruit, limited juice. You would struggle if you wanted continental only and you get more choice at a Premier Inn. Was not offered coffee or tea refills either morning. Not the worst we've experienced - I guess okay for three stars. Parking on site (secure car park opposite entrance, code controlled) @ £12.00 per day was valuable and reasonable. Walk from hotel along canal got us to City Centre in 10 minutes which, with the parking, makes this an excellent site for those exploring the City

In a great position to walk within Chester and situated next to the canal. The hotel was clean and the facilities had everything needed. I took the opportunity of having a facial in the spa...excellent! Very picturesque in the evening and bar is a comfortable environment for a single woman like myself to have a nightcap. Overall I highly recommend.

Whilst the hotel feels rather dated in terms of décor and breakfast offering, and our room was on the small side, it has a great deal going for it. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The hotel is in an excellent location just a few minutes walk from the city centre attractions, shops, and restaurants. The rooms and communal areas, including the pool, are spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast selection was somewhat limited, but perfectly good (both continental and cooked) and set us up well for our days out in Chester. If you are looking for a luxury experience, then you will be disappointed, but if you are looing for somewhere comfortable, friendly and clean to stay, close to the city centre, then this is the ideal place. Based on the staff, the location and the swimming pool we would definitely stay here again.
