Location: Perfect. Because it's near Burnham Park, Good Taste restaurant, Foam Coffee, Harrison Street, Baguio Night Market, Session Road, Vizco's, Baguio Cathedral, sm baguio. Also, beside it, is a grocery store.💯. Food: Perfect. Because you can get as much as what you can consume. They served garlic rice, steamed rice, scrambled eggs, dried fish, hotdogs, pork steak, breads and jams, coffee, juice, salad and fruits.💯. Room: Good. Because I'm not sure if other parts of the room is clean. But definitely the bathroom needs to be scrubbed. The AC unit was loud from time to time. And, there's no room slippers provided. Also, they need to change their old towels, and their busted lights as well. Good thing their bed linens and comforters are clean. Staffs: Perfect. (Even if my request was not followed.) Front desk ladies were kind and accommodating. Every staff we see greets us politely.💯. Thank you, Hotel Veniz Burnham!

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Baguio City Proper

Navigating the cultural landscape of Baguio City Proper involves understanding and respecting local customs, which can differ subtly from those in other parts of the Philippines or abroad. While Baguio is accustomed to tourists, showing politeness and awareness goes a long way. A general sense of respect for elders and authority figures is deeply ingrained in Filipino culture. Observing how locals interact in public spaces can provide valuable insights into appropriate behaviour.

When visiting Baguio City Proper's landmarks and public areas, dress modestly, especially when entering churches or more traditional sites. While casual attire is generally acceptable in tourist spots, overly revealing clothing might be frowned upon. Always ask for permission before taking photographs of individuals, particularly in local markets or residential areas. Queuing is generally observed, and patience is appreciated, especially during peak tourist seasons when popular attractions can become crowded.

Safety in Baguio City Proper is generally good, with the city being a popular destination for domestic tourism. However, like any urban area, it's wise to take standard precautions. Keep valuables secure and be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places like markets or bus terminals. For transportation, utilize reputable taxi services or ride-hailing apps like Grab, which are widely available and offer fare estimates. Having offline maps and emergency contact information readily accessible is always recommended.

For any emergencies in Baguio City Proper, dial 911 for immediate assistance. Local police and tourist police are available to help visitors. For Filipino travellers, it's always prudent to have the contact details for the nearest Philippine Embassy or Consulate in your destination country, though for travel within the Philippines, this is less critical. Considering travel insurance is a wise precaution for all travellers, covering unforeseen medical needs or trip disruptions.

Getting to Baguio City Proper and Getting Around

Reaching Baguio City Proper from other parts of the Philippines is primarily facilitated by air and land travel. For travellers originating from Manila (MNL), Cebu (CEB), or other major hubs, flights typically land at Clark International Airport (CRK) in Pampanga, which serves as a convenient gateway to the Cordillera region. From CRK, comfortable bus services are readily available, taking approximately 3-4 hours to reach Baguio City Proper. Direct bus routes from Metro Manila's major terminals, like Cubao and Pasay, are also a popular and economical option, with journeys lasting around 6-8 hours depending on traffic conditions.

Once you arrive in Baguio City Proper, navigating the city is relatively straightforward thanks to its well-established public transportation system. Jeepneys are the most common and affordable mode of transport, serving various routes throughout the city and its surrounding areas. Taxis are also readily available and metered, offering a more comfortable ride. For those who prefer organized travel, ride-hailing apps like Grab operate in Baguio, providing convenience and transparent pricing. Walking is also a pleasant option for exploring central districts like Session Road.

The best time to visit Baguio City Proper is generally during the dry season, from November to May, when the weather is cooler and less prone to rain. This period coincides with peak tourist season, especially around Christmas and the Panagbenga Festival in February, so expect larger crowds and potentially higher accommodation prices. For a more tranquil experience and potentially lower rates, consider visiting during the shoulder months or the early part of the rainy season (June to October), though be prepared for occasional downpours.

Before departing for Baguio City Proper, ensure you have the local currency, Philippine Peso (PHP), readily available. While major establishments may accept credit cards, smaller vendors and local transport often require cash. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival at the airport can be beneficial for staying connected and using data-dependent apps. Essential apps to download include navigation tools like Google Maps, ride-hailing apps, and translation apps if needed. Confirming any specific local regulations or requirements before your trip is always a good practice. Use Traveloka to find the best flights — book flight.
