I booked this property for an overnight “staycation” with my nephew and his family; we had 3 small children with us; I booked three premier rooms that were well appointed, with our room facing the ocean; the property delivered five-star quality service and ticked all the boxes for a five-star resort-hotel on the island of Mactan; aqua park was a big plus for the kids and the rooftop bar a bonus for the adults; we had a ball swimming, kayaking, dining and drinking cocktails; I highly recommend Solea Resorts considering that accommodation cost is affordable and will not break the bank!

Pros: Great and friendly staff. Great breakfast buffet. Our room is cleaned well. There is an in-house guest shuttle service going to and from Pueblo Verde Outlets and SM Seaside. Cons: Check-in process takes awhile but the check out is easy. Some areas like outdoor’s big round table needs repair. You can see the wrinkling of the wood from being wet.

We stayed here during a Typhoon. The place is sturdy and built like a fort. I attempted to go out to my car one night and steped out that door and almost blew away. inside it was quiet no wind sound no rain sound very quiet and calm atmosphere.

The most convenient way to reach Mactan Island, and subsequently Cordova, is by air. Major airlines like Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and AirAsia operate frequent flights from Manila (NAIA) to Mactan-Cebu International Airport (CEB). Flight durations are approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, with fares typically ranging from PHP 2,500 to PHP 6,000 for a round trip, depending on booking time and airline promotions. Booking your book flight in advance can secure better prices.

For travelers preferring land and sea travel, you can take a ferry from Manila to Cebu City. Several shipping lines offer this route, with journey times ranging from 20 to 36 hours. From Cebu City's port, you can then take a taxi or bus to Mactan Island. Bus fares from Manila to Cebu City can range from PHP 1,500 to PHP 3,000.

Once you arrive at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Mactan Island is easily accessible. Taxis and ride-sharing services are readily available to take you directly to Cordova. The travel time is about 30-45 minutes, with taxi fares usually ranging from PHP 400 to PHP 700, depending on traffic. Local jeepneys and buses also ply routes across the island, offering a more budget-friendly option for reaching Cordova.

Best Time to Visit Cordova, Mactan Island

The Philippines experiences a tropical climate, and Mactan Island is no exception. The best time to visit Cordova and the surrounding areas is generally during the dry season, which runs from December to May. During these months, you can expect sunny skies and lower humidity, making it ideal for outdoor activities, beach visits, and exploring the island.

The peak tourist season typically falls between December and February, coinciding with cooler temperatures and holiday breaks. While the weather is excellent, expect larger crowds and potentially higher prices for accommodations and flights. For a balance of good weather and fewer crowds, consider visiting during the shoulder months of March to May.

The wet season, from June to November, brings higher chances of rainfall, often in the form of short, intense downpours. While this period might see fewer tourists and lower prices, it's advisable to pack an umbrella and be flexible with your itinerary. Despite the rain, many activities remain enjoyable, and the lush scenery is particularly beautiful.

Food and Dining Near Cordova, Mactan Island — What Filipino Travelers Must Try

Cebu is renowned for its culinary delights, and Mactan Island offers a taste of these. A must-try is Lechon Cebu, a whole roasted pig with incredibly crispy skin and succulent, flavorful meat, often seasoned with a mix of local spices. You can find excellent versions at local eateries and restaurants across the island.

Another Cebuano specialty is Kinilaw, the Filipino version of ceviche. Fresh raw fish, typically tuna or tanigue, is "cooked" in vinegar, mixed with onions, ginger, chili, and other aromatics. It’s a refreshing and tangy dish, perfect for the tropical climate. Look for it in local carinderias or seafood restaurants.

For seafood lovers, grilled items are a staple. Freshly caught fish, squid, and prawns are often grilled to perfection over charcoal. Many beachfront restaurants and local markets offer these, allowing you to enjoy the catch of the day prepared simply but deliciously. Pair it with soy sauce, calamansi, and chili for dipping.

Don't leave Cebu without trying Chorizo de Cebu, small, sweet, and slightly spicy pork sausages. They are often pan-fried or grilled and are a popular breakfast item or appetizer. Many local markets sell these fresh, and restaurants often feature them on their menus.

Local Culture, Safety Tips, and Essential Apps for Cordova, Mactan Island

Filipino culture is known for its warmth and hospitality. When visiting Cordova, embrace the friendly nature of the locals, greet them with a smile, and be respectful of their customs. It's common to be invited for conversations, and engaging with locals can enrich your travel experience.

Safety is generally good in tourist areas, but it's always wise to be aware of your surroundings, especially in crowded places like markets or transport hubs. Keep your valuables secure and avoid displaying expensive items. For emergencies, the local police hotline is typically 911, and it's good to have the number for Mactan Doctors' Hospital handy.

When it comes to essential apps, ride-sharing apps like Grab are widely used on Mactan Island for convenient and often more affordable transportation compared to taxis. Weather apps are also useful for keeping track of any potential rain showers. For communication, ensure you have a reliable messaging app like WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger to stay in touch.

Learning a few basic Filipino phrases can go a long way in showing respect and connecting with locals. Simple greetings like "Magandang umaga" (Good morning) or "Salamat" (Thank you) are always appreciated. These small gestures can make your interactions more meaningful.

I booked a premier city view but I was given a building view. When I called the front desk, I was told that that’s the only room available, and their city view is residential view. The bathroom is a complete disaster! The tub is extremely high and it’s only halfway covered, so water is all over the floor. Just have to be extra cautious when stepping out the tub. You can only plug in the iron where the coffee maker at, which doesn’t makes sense coz there’s no table to iron the clothes.

Bedroom’s towel is stained and smells. Bedsheet with stains. Toilet near pool facilities very bad - all toilet doors lock not working, toilet flushing not working, tap no running water and floor very dirty. Man’s urinal in the open and smells. Breakfast Food and service is poor. Will reconsider Expedia recommendation if Expedia fails to provide accurate rating for our consideration.

World-Class Staff and Service: This is consistently the most highly rated aspect of the resort. Guests frequently compliment the staff for being fast, friendly, smiling, very accommodating, and providing exceptional service throughout their stay. Unmatched Pool and Water Facilities: The resort boasts multiple pools, including beautiful infinity pools and dedicated children's areas. The Aquaplay water park, slides, and shallow pools (many around 4 ft deep) make it a paradise for families and children. The resort is generally considered safe and fun for kids. Excellent Dining Options: The buffet breakfast and dinner receive high praise for variety and quality. Guests describe the food, especially the breakfast spread, as superb, offering a wide array of Filipino and Western dishes. Great Ambiance and Views: The resort offers beautiful panoramic views of the sea and generally maintains a relaxing, tropical ambiance, which is excellent for a staycation.

The Palm building was flooded (from top water flowing thru the walls and down the stairs) during the storm. Our room had mold. Requested to be moved but the supervisor on duty refused and lied about the conditions of the other buildings and other rooms. The day after the storm was chaotic but management did their best to move us to the main building with functioning light and elevators. Despite being under staffed, the service remained friendly and courteous.

Overall it was okay. Pool areas nice, even some under reconstruction. But that was mentioned on Homepage. Staff friendly as usual. However, mid-Management needs to gear up. Plenty of small issues all ocer, which should not occur in a Hotel as this. It would be easy to fix - teach personnel is fine, bonding of staff event is fine, but when you twach = you have to supervise and control! But overall a good relaxing stay.
