Our stay was exceptional! From having my car door opened on arrival and bags being placed in the closet of the room to the Chef Concierge, Dean, waving goodbye as we left, we had nothing but 10 star service. I must say this was my first 5-star resort experience and it exceeded expectations. The hotel and rooms were beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable. I felt like I was at home but there’s no turn down service at my house! We had a great view of the city. It’s walkable to many venues, restaurants, and attractions. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub, and sauna. The staff there go the extra mile, too, with friendly greetings, opening doors, and offering fruit infused water. There is also a spa and gym that look nice but I did not use. We ate a late night snack in the lobby bar. Great atmosphere, service, and food. I have nothing but praise for this place. It was a truly memorable and enjoyable stay.

I called ahead of time to see if I could check in early, because it was my anniversary for my girlfriend and I. I wanted to check in at 12:00pm, (check in was listed as 3:00pm on Expedia, and 4:00pm at the hotel). I was told by Andre that if I upgraded my room, it would be ready by 12:00pm. I arrived at the hotel around 12:30pm and the room was not ready, and I was told it would be ready in 1 hour. No big deal. We went and explored the city for 1 hour and never got a call. We showed up at the hotel and were told that the room was “almost ready.” So we waited 15 minutes and it was. We were told that our bags were in our room. We went up to the room and it was amazing. The view, the cleanliness, the attention to detail. But our bags were MIA. My girlfriend was furious because she wanted to shower and get dressed up for the evening and we had no clue where our bags were. I spoke with management (Dean if I remember correctly) and he apologized, and offered flowers, a card, and champagne to rectify the issue. Our bags showed up 15 minutes later along with the extra amenities as promised. After that, there were no issues. The hotel was great but the operations felt clumsy, riddled with false promises, and I felt like I was upsold on the room.

We had high hopes for this hotel but unfortunately it didn’t feel 5*. A very cold check in experience considering we had been asked to let the team know in advance of our arrival from the UK. No hello, no welcome to the hotel, simply staring at a screen typing away - trying to upsell an upgrade room. Considering we spent 7 days here it simply felt like a room. The pool and sauna is very much not a relaxing experience either - lots of children and residents who don’t really care that people are on holiday. Ultimately in summation, this is a great choice for a short business trip but definitely not somewhere I’d recommend if you’re searching for a relaxing getaway downtown in Toronto.
