It would have been helpful to know about the road closures nearby. I had a very interesting tour of the back lanes around the Peak District which Google managed admirably until depositing me at a farmhouse. Luckily I’m from N Devon, used to Exmoor lanes, and a farmer myself!

Beautiful and spacious room with lovely colours, stylish paintings and peacocks view. One of the best spas I've been to with outdoor heated pool and gorgeous cafe. Elegant restaurant, luxurious staircase with paintings, grand exterior of the building and lovely landscapes.

Accommodation aligned to wedding reception booked via Hotels.com as was unable to reach hotel reservations on several occasions to take advantage of guest discount and held in queue on each attempt. Wedding arrangements/catering/hosting was excellent but the room allocated was at the back of the hotel away from other wedding guests and decor facilities were ‘tired’ and in need of some TLC. Toilet in bathroom didn’t flush properly and wardrobe smelled when opened. Wedding suite although lovely was away from main hotel and there was a lot of toing & froing up and down a steep path between the main reception and the wedding venue/car park.

Lovely historical building with remarkable views. Main guest areas are of good condition but rooms need a bit of maintenance / refreshing. After delay at check in, was provided initially with room not make up then one with sewage smell. Breakfast good. Staff friendly and helpful. Peacocks lovely to see about hotel grounds, but may disturb sleep.

The Hotel lioked amazing from the outside, the grounds surrounding it was lovely. I did find the bedrooms are a bit off a letdown, i found the room was not very welcoming and a bit dilapidated, for the price off the rooms ,but otherwise clean. Myself and my partner wete going to use thd facilities but due to the costs off these wed opted out .

I can see why people get married here, the grounds are stunning. Unfortunately the rooms are not upto the same standard. We stayed in room 206 which was a big room with lovely views but the furniture was very outdated and some of it broken. The jacuzzi bath was filthy and was broken. Windows were dirty and lots of things covered in dust. Would have liked to have used the pool but was far too expensive. Breakfast was lovely

This was most likely one of our worst hotel stays to date and we use hotels very often. The service was shocking. The pool was for over 18 only which we were not aware of. So our son wasn’t able to use it. The restaurant was full when we got there and was told we needed to pre book, again not pre warned of this. We were able to grab food at the bar area and when we asked if they could assist us with taking the food to our room as he had to carry our baby son and take the pram as well, they simply said they do not do room service. We had to return our meal anyway as it was awful and we got a refund for the 2 main meals. We couldn’t use the wardrobe as the handles were broke. No cot in room. One towel in bathroom and the TV would switch on and off yet we were unable to change the channel or volume. When heading to bed around 10pm we got to our floor to a smell of someone smoking weed. Safe to say we packed our things and left without staying the night. Awful hotel. Awful service.

Paying £340 for 2 rooms to then have to pay ectra to use the spa facilitys is extorshonite. Why allow children at your hotel if the pool cant be used by them?. Our room windows had mould on them and our bathroom light didnt work. We would not be staying again.

Having arrived we were met by a very cold receptionist who told us to come back at 3pm. We did and greeted better, but still like we were doing them a favour. We were assigned our first room in which we turned around and came out of and asked to change room due to its cleanliness. Again met with attitude at reception, but were assigned a different room which was not much better, but we gave up hope of getting a clean room. During our stay we observed cleaning staff sat on beds watching things in their phone, a none attentive breakfast service. The smell of weed in the lift. The whole place needs a facelift and someone to do a walk around with their eyes open because it’s is dilapidated and dirty. The bar’s price point is higher than its standard. At newly £8 a beer, you would expect a clean and comfortable environment. I would not recommend and because of this i would not stay in any of the other hotels in the group. Extremely disappointing. The grounds look nice, but the first impressions from the car park are overflowing bins. The spar and pool look nice, be we did not venture in. The peacocks on the grounds are nice. But as soon as you go inside, the place disappoints. We stayed in 256 and don’t remember the first room number on the first floor. Avoid for the price!

Within the first hour after check in one of the staff used their keycard and entered me and my wifes room. Made no apology for barging in and left. The water in the shower was cold wouldn't get hot complained to the staff but nothing was done. Had to use my puregym membership to have a hot shower in the morning in Manchester instead. And didnt explain that we needed to book the spa spoke to the staff and they told us we can come at any time during the opening hours. When i went to use the spa the staff memeber then told us we couldn't use it as we hadnt booked. None of this was communicated with us when we checked in.
