We have stayed in this Hotel on many occasions. It has recently been taken over by new owners, so improvement works are underway but did not interfere with our enjoyment. Disappointed to discover at check out we had to pay for parking at £15 per day. This was not the case in the past, when parking was free for residents. Good location with beautiful views of Lake Windermere

Badly needs bringing into the 21st century. No air conditioning in the rooms, and basic TVs with only Freeview. Need to change to smart TV or at least be able to Chromecast. Rooms are not cleaned by housekeeping unless you ask and when i did on 1 occasion they still didn't do it. I reminded them on reception after waiting 6 hours but still never turned up. In the end i knocked on housekeeping door to get fresh towels myself! Cooked breakfast was nice but very limited options for continental. Just natural yoghurt, no flavoured ones , especially nothing for our 5 year old daughter. Meats and cheeses was a tiny selection. I also personally think it's wrong to charge guests £15 a day to park your car. You know we all arrive by car so either just include in the price or don't do it. Bit annoying when checking out to be reminded I owe another £45. Staff were lovely as usual but you can tell they have cut back on the numbers. We stay there because of the location and the staff. I just wish you updated the rooms and the sofa bed in our family room is so uncomfortable it should be thrown out. Awful piece of furniture. For £260 a night i think your guests deserve more.

The hotel is in a great position and we had a wonderful room overlooking Lake Windermere it was therefore handy for the facilities of Bowness, ALL the staff were friendly and very helpful, with a special mention to Phil and Ali, our only criticism is that the bar does not have enough variety of draught beers/lagers. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Only issue we had was i asked for breakfast on sunday morning, earlier than the usual breakfast time due to me running windermere marathon. I asked twice, once when arrived, and again the saturday afternoon for breakfast to be ready early. It did not arrive, i had less than 20 mins to have food before my race. The hotel explained it was sent to the wrong room. Not great. Other than that our stay was lovely, when i didn’t need to rush around for breakfast it was very nice, their meals in the restaurant was also very nice. The staff were great too other than that one time in the sunday.

The room was well kept and clean but did not have an AC but each room had its own fan which made up for on the warmer days. The greatest was continental and provided good range for vegetarians. All the stuff were lovely and very helpful.

Hi just to say our 2 rooms a bit disappointing room 81 had no phone, the rooms could have done with a fridge to keep drinks cool. Room 82,the blinds didn't open so were closed the whole 4days, the bathroom floor tiles were wobbling and the grout has worn away. The menu for late afternoon/evening time could do with a better choice of snacks, better selection of sandwiches ie ham, cheese and pickle, egg, beef, ploughman's, or cheese and crackers. They staff were amazing, but one thing that needs to highlighted, the breakfast buffet, bacon sausage, mushrooms, egg , not hot, very luke warm, the plates were in a plate warmer this was not switched on. I am disappointed, but will write to the hotel personally.

Excellent hotel for your stay in the heart of Bowness within easy reach of all local amenities. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The only point to note is that there was no air conditioning in our room which made our room very hot , humid during the heat wave despite a fan being provided. Will certainly return to this hotel for our next visit to Bowness.

The hotel is in a perfect location. The decor is spotless. Some amazing chandeliers!!! The staff were so charming and helpful. Breakfast was great. large dining room with self service buffet having everything you desire which was frequently topped up. The bar drinks were expensive though. £25 for 2 glasses of white wine seemed way too much to us. The rooms do differ in size a lot though so I would go for the biggest you can afford if you want a view and space to move around. Beds are really comfortable and a good size.

Some of the staff couldn’t do enough for me . But the hotel is greatly over rated. Bathroom I could put my hands on both sides and only about 12 inches between the toilet and the wall. For the money I paid it was not worth it. Sadly I will never go back .better hotels for less In the area. Mr s Murray

Beautiful hotel, very impressive on arrival. Polite and friendly staff and served a very good breakfast. The hotel has a great bar and reception area as well as some quaint seating areas. However the gardens rooms were not as we expected, not part of the main hotel, and almost like an extension attached to the main building. With no pictures in the corridors, and just bare walls, it actually felt quite neglected compared to the rest of the beautifully decorated hotel. The room itself was nice and spacious with a patio door to outside seating but sadly the bathroom let it down. The toilet button was broken, the towel rail fell off each time we reached for a towel, and there was mould around the edge of the bath. Pretty poor for a hotel of this standard. We also felt a £15 a day car parking fee pretty poor. Saying this the hotel is in a prime position right opposite the lake and we did enjoy our stay. For anyone with a visit booked shortly please note the hotel garden is also having major works completed but it has been sectioned off quite nicely and no work was carried out whilst we were there so no disruptions to guests.
