Staff was amazing — front desk, cleaning staff, restaurant, etc.

The AC did not work. The room door lock malfunctioned. The mattress was inferior in terms of comfort; springy box mattress. The breakfast was limited to mostly canned items and processed food items, with a limited variety of fresh fruits and meat.

I really enjoy my stays at Emara Ole sereni. Everyone there is so friendly and the rooms are well kept, and I really enjoyed having a balcony this time. I can mention a few people who helped make my stay great: Peter Erick at security, Samuel, Lucy, Alex from the front desk, Brian, and Eunice from the shops, and there are so many more people at the hotel I cannot name. This is the only hotel that I stay at when I am in Nairobi.

Great room, service, front desk staff (Hussain & Milka), good restaurant, great room view.

I had a nice view of the National park. Also enjoyed dinner on the 3rd floor restaurant.

Hot water in the shower, dirty windows - handprints. Not really 5 start quality.

I was not able to use the rooftop bar area either day of my stay because of special events, which I think are quite frequent these days. Very disappointing because the rooftop bar was a big part of my reason for choosing to stay at Emara.

The room was hot. The 1st night there was a very loud party lasting late into the night. No sleep to be had until after 11pm. The wait staff could not explain the menu. Bathroom very small. Water dripping in sink.

Despite its promising online presentation, my stay at Emara Ole-sereni was disappointing. The photographs of the deluxe room advertised on Hotels.com, with both front and side-facing windows, turned out to be very misleading, as I was told by a porter that only very few such rooms exist and the photo is used to lure guests. The alternative room with a terrace was clean, but the building itself felt neglected, with visible water damage and a dusty, dated & faded appearance. Road noise made it hard to relax, undermining the hotel’s claim of offering serenity. Reception was unresponsive to calls, forcing me to go down in person just to be heard, which felt more like an inconvenience than a service. Breakfast staff seemed disengaged, forgetting basic items like cutlery and coffee orders, which I eventually had to fetch myself from the bar. On a positive note, the porter and cleaning staff were exceptional, offering the only bright spot in an otherwise underwhelming experience.

Make up mirror handle was not holding up. No convenient way to dry your hair. Hair dryer cord too short and plug near the floor. Rest everything was excellent including staff, breakfast buffet and roof top restaurant.

Extremely Disappointing – We Left Mid-Stay Despite No Refund I booked a four-night business trip at Emara Ole-Sereni, and it turned out to be one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had. The reception service was chaotic – long lines, disorganized check-in, and rude, unhelpful staff who made us feel like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. The room cleanliness was unacceptable. It was clear that proper housekeeping standards are not being followed – dusty surfaces, stained linens, and an overall lack of hygiene that made it uncomfortable to stay. Despite having no refund option, we made the decision to cut our stay short and move to another hotel. That’s how bad it was. I would strongly advise business travelers and tourists alike to look elsewhere. This hotel does not live up to its reputation or pricing.
