The Occidental Hotel

We came and booked for 3 adults for the room. However, on arrival, we only received 2 towels and 2 sets of soap and shampoo, which I had to asked the extra based on my booking. Then for our 8 days of stay, our towels were only exchanged for some of the days, whereas our bed sheets were changed around our day 6 of our stay. In addition, our room were very dimly lit so those that want to have proper make-up in the room would have to use extra lights or the bathroom, and the mirror at the sink is pretty high up for those that are 5"9 below so it was hard for them to view themselves through that mirror. It was a great location to stay at, everything in CBD is very close by (public transportation, shops, etc). Our room was given no fans but it had a newer Air Conditioner installed so it was functional for heating or cooling as needed. The roads does get a bit loud late at night but I've prepared myself to be either super tired at night or use noise cancelling headphones to have a proper sleep. Overall, it was as expected for the price it was charging.

Staff were friendly, entry is through a bar - awkward when you are travelling with young children at night. Black mould in the shared showers. Room was clean and the location was very good.

For the most part, the room was clean. Bathroom hot water pressure was low so it took a while for hot water to start but this was posted in plain site. Not ideal if you wanted a quick shower and it wasted a lot of water.

Great location 10 min walk to Cruise Terminal perfect for our stay Room was tidy and the bar very busy most of the time but noise did not disturb us Would recommend as good value stay in an expensive city

Was a nice friendly atmosphere and nice food.

Chambre spacieuse et placards de rangement appréciés. Portes communicantes avec chambres voisines un peu gênantes pour le bruit, mais sanitaires très propres et bien équipés. Hôtel tres bien situé et très pratique pour les deplacements.

Room was very clean & staff helpful. Tea & coffee provided. Room was a bit tired but served its purpose for the CBD of Sydney. The Occidental is a Very busy pub.

Our room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms accessible and clean. The building construction noise across the street was not welcome at 3am but not the fault or within the control of the hotel. Attempted to have a meal for dinner but the pub was so chock a block full that we had to go elsewhere.

Perfect location right next to Wynyard station (trains, buses, light rail, supermarket and food hall all within a block). Beautiful old building. Shared bathrooms excellent (aside from the lack of mirrors). Very large showers and always kept clean. Was initially worried about the "shared" aspect, but hardly saw another person in 4 days. Never had to wait. Room adequate. Nothing fancy, but very clean. Great view across the park to the city. Could use maybe a power point or 2. Saturday night traffic was noisy (of course), but despite two functions downstairs and a full bar, almost no noise audible from within the building. Had a great stay. Would stay again and definitely recommend for a short city trip.

Cheapest place in Sydney to stay we like staying here on out travels. We enjoyed the bar down stairs. Easy to walk to public transport

The room was too small for a couple. There was not enough room to put our things about. There are no mirrors in the male bathrooms to have shave. Staff was not courteous. I requested for some milk to make tea. Wr waited for an hour and when I complained the manager was telling me off saying no need to be angry. The staff was not very helpful, but the hotel was at the right location. All the attractions were in walking distance.

Room was clean, staff friendly, beds comfortable. A lot of street and people noise.
