Good location, clean room, great lobby to hang out with a larger party

Other reviews have called the Moxy "edgy" or "modern" but I found it to be cheaply finished and perhaps the most inconvenient and uncomfortable hotel I've stayed at in recent memory. I had to ask for an extra folding chair (the room is furnished with one folding chair and little else) just to have surface space. No proper desk, no place to put a laptop or spare change. The room was dark, stark, and a bit echo-y. Everyone was nice, the place is relatively new (another review called it Temu decor, which is sadly fair), it was clean, but I would have appreciated a proper bed over custom designed shower drains ("deep end," really?) or "edgy" art installations. Creature comforts were few, particularly for the price. A mini fridge as a night stand isn't cool or innovative, it's just cheap.

A funky hotel for those looking for something different from the generic corporate chain!

The rooms are very minimal. At first, I was a little apprehensive, but it was a lovely stay. The staff is amazing, the property has a cool vibe. It was an overall great stay.

Check in was a disaster. They couldn’t find my reservation even though I showed them it on my iPhone. It took what seemed like forever to Checkin. Others before me and those waiting to checkin had the same terrible experience

I've stayed in a number of hotels in Halifax and surrounding areas and without a doubt this hotel is the single worst hotel experience I've had. For my 8 night stay I paid more then I ever had for any of the other hotels listed on Expedia in HRM and here’s what I noticed; 1. The rooms are obviously pictured to be tiny but the grasp of how tiny they are is only made in person. There is ZERO storage space in the entire room with the exception of 1 pull out drawer which handle was broken and inaccessible and the small suitcase storage under the bed does not in fact fit a suitcase. The layout of the room made no sense. In order to watch the tv you have to be propped up at the foot of either bed to see the full screen. 2. Easily the biggest issue with this hotel is the noise. Every Saturday the lobby turns into a nightclub with blaring music that from the second floor is heard so clearly it literally shakes the room. I was unlucky enough to have a 4AM flight on Sunday morning and when I advised staff of the noise in my room I was told “we are fully booked, and there’s no rooms to move you too, you’ll have to deal with it”. I can most certainly understand wanting to cultivate a fun experience in your lobby but it should not come at the cost of the comfort of your guests, after all this is a hotel. Ultimately, I would recommend nearly any other hotel in Halifax over this one.

The staff is nice, but this property has some big limitations. In all of my stays, I've experienced a lot of traffic/road noise. They could do a lot to improve the sound transmission through the windows. Also, the climate control machines are a bit iffy. Finally, housekeeping only comes every 2 days.

It’s a good spot in Halifax. It’s good for a short trip. I miss proper room amenities like a proper ironing board but other than that it gets the job done

The hotel is very lively but quiet in the rooms. The staff are all young and very helpful. The location is good.

Best stay so far

Staff are super friendly and helpful. The hotel has a nice vibe with a modern feel. Easy walk to Downtown and the Harbour-front. The breakfast was great.

Hip and trendy spot with plenty of fun and entertainment on site. Close to many great spots in Halifax.

Very unique and trendy - overall a great experience, the only lag was the HVAC system kicks in every 5 minutes and wakes you up and the mini bar fridges make funny noises that keep you awake.
