Connaught Hotel

Hotel wasn’t clean in the room. The bed had a massive stain. The mattress was broken. The bathroom shower screen was broken no lightbulbs in the small lights not a good experience. there was a strong paint smell and I have had itchy skin since I’ve been there. I’m feeling unwell.

the person on reception was very unhelpful-I asked for the number for room service and when I went up to my room I found there was no telephone so how I am I meant to contact reception?? Turned out the lift was not working and my room was on the third floor; had to carry the luggage up to my room myself. The window in my room had been left open; it turned out there was a bad odour which they were trying to reduce. Bed was very uncomfortable blanket was thread bear, mattress was thread bear and very noisy. Shower head was broken unable to adjust the height. The hair dryer was broken. The kitchen/restaurant was closed and no food available. Upon complaining to reception I was told what you expect this is a three star hotel! The photographs are very misleading the places dilapidated. Whilst trying to sleep loud booming noises from downstairs where a wedding party was taken place - managed to fall asleep eventually.

The Connaught hotel Wolverhampton If you want something budget that’s an absolute cheap hole by all means ! But I won’t be ever again! Firstly the ring door bell is broken…. You walk in to be greeted with a lovely bar area but the rest is a dive! Even the remote didn’t have a back and tv only worked on selected channels Staff were blunt and not really accommodating. weird you didn’t get your key in a key card considering it’s suppose to be a great western hotel. On arriving in our room we didn’t need to even look around found lots of issues. Shame work men have to be so loud at 5am in the morning and have no consideration for others and shout up and down the corridor You really need to re do your rooms or simply sort them out properly! Bar area seemed to be more important than the rooms…. Lift is out of use so if you’re having limited mobility it’s a joke…. Plastic spoon for your tea and coffee Dare not use the water coming out of the tap as it had a brown tinge to it Our room lock didn’t even work don’t waste your money or time on this place I don’t know how you can run a business take money of genuine people and call it a hotel 🏨 must be so proud of yourselves

The hotel was good for the price we paid. Could have done with an extra pillow for the beds but otherwise was exactly what we expected and needed for the overnight stay we had.

Barely acceptable, is giving more praise than deserved. Bed had a huge dent in the sleep area. Toilets seat was broken, & had been for a while. Lifts none functioning. Room freezing, on what was the hottest day after the year. Actually pump iced chilled water thro radiators. Quilt thin. No food at hotel. Much building demolition. Zero sleep, & i mean zero, cold uncomfortable. T.V. had only one channel "Prime", because i logged into my ,own account. Hairdryer broken, mains leads jammed into broken junction box. What happened to the " relax" in our deep baths. One leaky mouldy shower! Not worth wasting more time on this review. 😡

It was a bit dirty, stuff falling apart. At a glance it looked fancy but not when you spent some time in the room. The common areas are old and worn and there was a party with very loud music that was supposed to end around 22 which would be fine but it continued till midnight. I also got woken up a few hours later by multiple loud alarms. Did not have a good night of sleep.

The room was clean, spacious and recently decorated. I would have liked to have known that the hotel was having major renovations to the entire downstairs, including the reception area. Apart from this, staff were courteous and happy.

The hotel is a building site, the beds are uncomfortable and when you flush the loo it sounds like a pneumatic drill. Worse hotel I have stayed in my whole life…..

Room was really nice there was having work done but was told b4 we went there beds were comfy

For the price it was fine overall. The room was actually very nice, comfy bed, clean. All the fixtures, hooks, towel rail etc in the bathroom were hanging off so let down a little on maintenance tasks. The reception area was a bit of a building site but functional and looked like would be nice when finished, and the price was cheaper than elsewhere so was reflected in it. I think the only reason I wouldn’t stay again was on the second night there was loud, drunken singing & music from one room and another noisy room nearby slamming doors etc at 1am and then again at 3am disturbing my sleep. It seemed someone did speak to them, I assume from the hotel, but by that time you are awake and struggling to go back to sleep. As similar things are mentioned in other reviews so seems a theme I don’t think I would stay again but the staff were friendly and the room and bathroom were fine

Overall good hotel as it is, great for a cheap stay.

Worst hotel so far. The room smells

This hotel should not be operating. Everything was awful and dirty, did not enjoy any of it. The mattress had a stain, TV doesn’t work, bathroom is dirty.

The worst hotel Experience ever. The hotel is effectively a building suite. Unsafe and unclean aread throughout. Tv fifnt work in the room, mould on walls, curtains, rust and mouod. In the bath and toilet. Blood stains found near bed area. Very noisy, builders dust can be felt in the atmosphere... Absolutely shocking condition. Tried to speak to a manager in the morning but told that noone available til after 2pm. This hotel is not as described on the websites. The photos have clearly been taken many years ago when the hotel was new.. Very deceiving to say the least. Will be making an official complaint for a refund.

Bathroom sink was cracked, had no plug and never delivered hot water, BUT, the shower was hot, the room was warm and the bed was comfortable, so overall, about right for the price.

The staff were fine, the bed was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was clean. However, the property was a bit of a mess. The carpets were threadbare, there are currently renovations happening so the whole place smells of diesel fumes, the room I was in was hidden behind a weird false wall at the end of the corridor and I spent ages looking for it, part of the hotel looks totally dilapitated and almost abandoned, the light above the bathroom mirror didn't work, one of the bedside lamps didn't work, the TV wasn't even on the wall and all the wires were sticking out... My biggest issues was that the lift was out of service due to the renovations taking place - this would have been fine if there had been communication about this prior to my stay so that I could request a ground floor room, but I didn't get that didn't happen. I have have arthritis in my knees and hips so I find stairs painful, especially if I'm carrying something heavy like luggage. When I checked in I was told my room was on the fourth floor, which is not something I am physically capable of. I told the man at reception this and he said the only other room available was on the second floor. I had no option but to take it, but I was still forced to struggle on two flights of stairs while carrying luggage (no help was offered), which was quite painful for me. This just isn't acceptable - either list that the hotel is not accessible or make reasonable adjustments for your less able guests.
