However, even there, there was a separate menu for the half board package with 4 starters, 4 mains and 2 desserts. The waiter had to request the menu for us. Looking at the main menu, there was no real differences in the costs of the individual meals on the half board menu, therefore I could not see the point in having a separate menu other than to restrict options for half board guests. Whilst your staff on the floor, housekeeping, Spa, gym, pool, catering, were excellent throughout our stay, it seems that managers and desk staff were less concerned with our experience, and more concerned with ‘more affluent’ guests.
My family and I are well travelled, including numerous visits to Dubai, and Abu Dhabi, staying at high end resorts and hotels. We are not affluent, but we are all professionals. I am an Executive Headteacher for a group of High Schools in Birmingham, my wife is a HR manager for a national utilities company, and my daughter is a frontline Doctor working for the NHS. We work hard, earn well, and spend accordingly. But we are not in the same league as some of your clientele.
The half board package made us feel decidedly ‘second class’. Something we have not experienced before. On Thursday 25th I was ready to leave and return to the UK, but one of the waiters in Hudson Tavern, Miche, made me change my mind.
