Rydges Esplanade Resort Cairns

Staff is awesome! The room is clean but lacks amenities and is quite small. I had the family room…a seating area or a small couch would be a nice addition. Also, a small chair and table at the balcony would be great to have coffee in the morning and enjoy the scenery.

Room amenities… no pen, no pad, only 4 tea bags, all the same type … room service forgot face washer .. soap dispenser empty at the beginning of day 4 … packet of soap on vanity not replaced … very average for a resort hotel

Breakfast is good and staff is very nice. Beautiful ocean view.

The staff were great. A room makeover wouldn't go astray. It was very clean but a bit tired. Double glazed windows might be an idea.🙄

Very clean room and great view of the ocean from the balcony. I loved the location; it was a short, interesting walk to many cafes and things to do. Massive shout out to the staff, especially hospitality, as they were helpful and friendly. As a group of young travellers we definitely felt safe

We had a great stay. We found the staff very friendly and the rooms were very clean and inviting. The only matter I would like to suggest is that when the guest arrives, if they haven't been to the area before that you advise them of the local transport in the area (pick up bus in Lake Street) and how you can easily get around with the bus.

Staff at the hotel were amazing. I had a last minute change of plans and arrived at the hotel at midnight. It was such a relief to have 24 hour service!

Pros The reception and bar staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We paid a little extra for a sea-view room, which offered a wonderful outlook over the bay and esplanade. We tried the daily chef’s special twice; at $25 per person it was excellent value. The sirloin steak in particular was beautifully tender and flavourful, complemented by a $6 happy-hour cocktail or beer between 4–6pm. The guest laundry on several floors was also very convenient for long-term travellers. Cons With newer 5-star resorts along the esplanade—such as the immaculate Crystalbrook Riley—the hotel’s urgent need for a full refurbishment becomes even more apparent. Scuffed doors, worn carpets, and tired décor are visible throughout. On one morning we were woken at 6:30am by loud hammering and drilling, and staff were unable to explain the disturbance. The outdoor pool area, though spacious, was disappointing. Across our five-night stay,there were no cushions or pads on the loungers, making them uncomfortable for more than a short sit. There were also no umbrellas or shaded areas, which is essential under the strong Cairns sun. The wooden decking and surrounding areas were soiled with bird droppings and debris, and the pool itself contained leaves and corroded fixtures, giving the impression of a neglected facility. We ultimately chose not to use it at all. I would encourage travellers seeking a higher-quality experience to consider alternatives where all facilities can be enjoyed.

the room was spotless and extremely comfortable. Only one negative comment would be the BATH in the ensuite. we are 86 and 79 and stepping over a bath is not really safe at our ages. Your room staff were great. We let them know that there was no need to clean our room but happly gave us more milk, coffee and tea . Bar restaurant and front counter staff couldn't do more for us. Even your trainee on the front counter was extremely helpful. We joined your club also whilst we were there but disappointed to see upon my return that none of the stay we had just enjoyed was recorded on our club membership Lenore and Edward Ryan

Great stay, perfectly located. Not too close to the esplanade that the noise affects you at night, and not too far that you need a cab. Friendly staff, courteous and helpful with booking attraction tickets.

Breakfast was amazing and made the start of the day hassle free.

Good value for money and relatively close to Cairns CBD. We walked there every day - only takes about 20 minutes to the marina. Room cleaning could be better - only towels replaced and beds made - bathroom not done. However - you can opt out of cleaning on a day by day basis and get discount in the restaurant.

During my recent stay, breakfast was quite average. Each morning, the same selection of food was available with little to no variety. While it was sufficient, there was nothing particularly memorable or exciting about the options. A bit more diversity or some fresh choices would have been appreciated to improve the overall dining experience. Cleanliness of Pool Area One of the main issues I noticed was the lack of cleanliness around the pool areas. Over the course of four days, the surroundings were not maintained at all. Bird droppings and fallen palm tree branches remained scattered around the premises, detracting from the enjoyment and comfort of the outdoor facilities. Regular cleaning and attention to these details would go a long way in enhancing guest satisfaction. Overall Impression While the accommodation provided the basics, the repetitive breakfast and unkempt pool surroundings left much to be desired. Improvements in food variety and daily cleaning routines could significantly elevate the guest experience.

Great housekeeping.

Walls are so tiny that you can hear the next room sliding door. Be mindful of that otherwise it was a good hotel and good location.
