We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is conveniently located in the old quarter, amidst many stores and restaurants. We walked to the lake multiple times, and stopped to look at many souvenir shops. A very lively area to explore. The hotel staff are the most courteous and welcoming that I’ve come across. The breakfast had many choices and all served very well. Our room had 2 windows, but one faced a wall and the other one was very small, so there wasn’t much natural light. We had a great time in Tam Coc, Halong and Mai Chau, thanks to Jenny, with whom we booked three trips. The majority of the guides were very friendly, and the chosen itineraries allow to get away from the crowds and be active (hiking, kayaking, biking...) with wonderful sights.

This is one of the best hotels we stayed in over 6 months travelling in South East Asia! The staff are so helpful and friendly, especially Jenny who helped us to book a trip to Halong bay 2 days 1 night , Hoalu- trang An 1 day tour and Sapa 2 days 3 nights which was brilliant value, and a fantastic trip. We stayed here for about two weeks as we kept extending our stay because we loved it so much. The hotel is so clean, the rooms are lovely with flowers on your bed on arrival, and they always have fruit and drinks for when you arrive, which is lovely when you have travelled a lot. The location of hotel was convenient, close to all attractions and food recommendations Kindness is not the word, I am so thankful to these two members of staff, they saved us in our hour of need and we can only say thank you!!!

Hanoi Gem Hotel is well positioned in the heart of the Old Quarter of Hanoi, close to many attractions: Hoan Kiem Lake, St Joseph's Cathedral, Water Puppet Theatre, Night Market, restaurants and bars. The room was well appointed with a 2-way bathroom, very comfortable bed and good amenities. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. It's a fairly new hotel, recently renovated and with free wifi throughout. I will stay there again and highly recommend the Hanoi Gem Hotel for your stay in Hanoi.

The check-in was very uncomfortable. We filled in all the information requested by Expedia including the age of our 2 children (11&12) and selected a hotel recommended by Expedia, which was Gem hotel. When we check-in, the receptionist (Mr Thang) said we were for 3, not 4. I showed them our booking, which mentioned 2 adults and 2 children. Then he said our children were above 10 and should be considered as adult. I said he should talk with expedia or mention it clearly in the room description. We found no such information on expedia. He kept talking and we felt very tired arguing with him at 7pm after a long journey. We left the hotel at earliest as we can. Never come back.

Property is not in same condition as photos. Looks run down, worn out, dirty. Room had a balcony with two broken down stools. After squatting all day at street vendors, a decent chair in the room would’ve been great. Staff (Jenny) was 5 stars. So friendly and helpful.

The door could only half open because of warped floor, smashed window blinds, hair on bed covers, one big and small towel for two people, leaking sink. No staff on arrival, couldn’t find booking despite having called in the morning, was told things would be fixed tomorrow (was a one night stay. Avoid.

This hotel is in a great location, it’s very close to shops, restaurants, markets, etc. However, we had some problems with our stay... - The AC in our room was leaking the whole time and the water dripping was loud when trying to sleep. - The bathtub (no shower) was also leaking every time we used it and it was bad. The water flooded the bathroom every time severely. - There was a lot of mold in the bathroom as well you could see and smell it right away. We informed the staff about this issue and they just put one of our bath towels on the table underneath the AC! - Very very noisy (you can hear other people in the hotel through the vents and the street outside was very loud all night long) The room has potential but it is extremely old and really needs the amenities fixed. Overall we would not stay here again.

Good location with lots of food and tour options nearby. Unfortunately not the best of places to stay, the window in the room looked out onto the main stairwell which was covered in junk and meant the light was on all night. The room never felt entirely clean, bed sheets weren’t changed, bin was never emptied and open bottles of drinks in the fridge upon arrival. The safety box also did not work, lighting was often flickering and the noise from around the hotel was loud. A shame because the location is great and had potential but felt let down.

The property wasn't easy to find with google map. The signboard needs to be fixed. The room looked old and dirty. It wasn't a pleasant stay but just an overnight stay. Tour guide minibus couldn't drive in the narrow road and we had to walk to the main road. Wouldn't recommend this place.

We may not have read enough reviews before booking in here. But really, except for the location in the heart of old town we really did not want to spend any time here. I found the air stagnant, the shower was a bathtub with shower wand with no mount. For a tall person it was awkward and the floor would be drenched. Not that we need a tv, but ours was fuzzy and even with request for service it was rebooted but no better. There was never anyone at the front desk. The Spa appeared to be closed, scooters were parked in it. I get it that these are old buildings and we stayed in many like this because 'character' and 'heritage' hotels are usually so rewarding. Not so much at the Gem.

Stayed one night and the other was cancelled last minute. Jenny was rude and unhelpful and I had to find alternate accommodation. Room was basic, TV didn’t work and very noisy. Would not stay again due to Jenny’s bad attitude.

とにかく安かったので利用しました。 立地が良く、近くに飲食店やカフェ、マッサージ店なども非常に多く、お店が無くて困ったりは全くしません！ハノイ大聖堂がとても近いです！ 部屋は所々古さや汚れが目立ちますが値段が値段なので仕方がないと思います。あと部屋のドアが薄いのか結構外の音が聞こえます。 シャワーのお湯やアメニティなどの問題は全くありませんでした。 一つ気になったのがチェックインの際ロビーに誰もおらず、また呼び出しベル等も無かったので、スタッフの方が来るまで15分ほど待たされたことです。 夜に到着したこと、一人旅だったのでとても不安でした。事前にチェックインが何時頃になるか連絡しておくと良いかもしれません。

Hotellet ligger centralt i Hanoi Old Quarter. Selve hotellet var ikke noget at prale af, men prisen har også været meget billigt, så det er nok hvad man må forvente. Værelset var ret gammelt og beskidt. Derudover var morgenmaden virkelig dårlig, så den sprang vi pænt over. Der var også en del støj på hotellet i løbet af natten, hvilket var rigtig ærgerligt.

It was our worst stay ever! Don’t go to this hotel! We arrived late in the night and then they moved us to a different hotel close by. In the morning they told us that we need to move the hotel again. The communication was really bad. They told us that the hotels don’t cooperate and we need to arrange the move by ourselves. We went on a tour the day and when we came back they moved our whole stuff to the other hotel. Once we arrived there to hotel room was very dirty and we had a water leak in the bathroom. Surprisingly the breakfast was at the other hotel where we stayed the night before (but they don’t cooperate). We felt so unheard that we couldn’t stay there one more night.

Fanns ingen personal tillgänglig , ingen förstod engelska så väldigt svår kommunicerat. Smutsiga rum, läckte vatten ur kranarna. Wifi var väldigt dåligt också tyvärr så man kunde inte surfa. De lovade att fixa men inget hände.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is conveniently located in the old quarter, amidst many stores and restaurants. We walked to the lake multiple times, and stopped to look at many souvenir shops. A very lively area to explore. The hotel staff are the most courteous and welcoming that I’ve come across. The breakfast had many choices and all served very well. Our room had 2 windows, but one faced a wall and the other one was very small, so there wasn’t much natural light. We had a great time in Tam Coc, Halong and Mai Chau, thanks to Jenny, with whom we booked three trips. The majority of the guides were very friendly, and the chosen itineraries allow to get away from the crowds and be active (hiking, kayaking, biking...) with wonderful sights.

This is one of the best hotels we stayed in over 6 months travelling in South East Asia! The staff are so helpful and friendly, especially Jenny who helped us to book a trip to Halong bay 2 days 1 night , Hoalu- trang An 1 day tour and Sapa 2 days 3 nights which was brilliant value, and a fantastic trip. We stayed here for about two weeks as we kept extending our stay because we loved it so much. The hotel is so clean, the rooms are lovely with flowers on your bed on arrival, and they always have fruit and drinks for when you arrive, which is lovely when you have travelled a lot. The location of hotel was convenient, close to all attractions and food recommendations Kindness is not the word, I am so thankful to these two members of staff, they saved us in our hour of need and we can only say thank you!!!

The check-in was very uncomfortable. We filled in all the information requested by Expedia including the age of our 2 children (11&12) and selected a hotel recommended by Expedia, which was Gem hotel. When we check-in, the receptionist (Mr Thang) said we were for 3, not 4. I showed them our booking, which mentioned 2 adults and 2 children. Then he said our children were above 10 and should be considered as adult. I said he should talk with expedia or mention it clearly in the room description. We found no such information on expedia. He kept talking and we felt very tired arguing with him at 7pm after a long journey. We left the hotel at earliest as we can. Never come back.

Hanoi Gem Hotel is well positioned in the heart of the Old Quarter of Hanoi, close to many attractions: Hoan Kiem Lake, St Joseph's Cathedral, Water Puppet Theatre, Night Market, restaurants and bars. The room was well appointed with a 2-way bathroom, very comfortable bed and good amenities. The staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. It's a fairly new hotel, recently renovated and with free wifi throughout. I will stay there again and highly recommend the Hanoi Gem Hotel for your stay in Hanoi.

Property is not in same condition as photos. Looks run down, worn out, dirty. Room had a balcony with two broken down stools. After squatting all day at street vendors, a decent chair in the room would’ve been great. Staff (Jenny) was 5 stars. So friendly and helpful.

The door could only half open because of warped floor, smashed window blinds, hair on bed covers, one big and small towel for two people, leaking sink. No staff on arrival, couldn’t find booking despite having called in the morning, was told things would be fixed tomorrow (was a one night stay. Avoid.

This hotel is in a great location, it’s very close to shops, restaurants, markets, etc. However, we had some problems with our stay... - The AC in our room was leaking the whole time and the water dripping was loud when trying to sleep. - The bathtub (no shower) was also leaking every time we used it and it was bad. The water flooded the bathroom every time severely. - There was a lot of mold in the bathroom as well you could see and smell it right away. We informed the staff about this issue and they just put one of our bath towels on the table underneath the AC! - Very very noisy (you can hear other people in the hotel through the vents and the street outside was very loud all night long) The room has potential but it is extremely old and really needs the amenities fixed. Overall we would not stay here again.

Good location with lots of food and tour options nearby. Unfortunately not the best of places to stay, the window in the room looked out onto the main stairwell which was covered in junk and meant the light was on all night. The room never felt entirely clean, bed sheets weren’t changed, bin was never emptied and open bottles of drinks in the fridge upon arrival. The safety box also did not work, lighting was often flickering and the noise from around the hotel was loud. A shame because the location is great and had potential but felt let down.

The property wasn't easy to find with google map. The signboard needs to be fixed. The room looked old and dirty. It wasn't a pleasant stay but just an overnight stay. Tour guide minibus couldn't drive in the narrow road and we had to walk to the main road. Wouldn't recommend this place.

We may not have read enough reviews before booking in here. But really, except for the location in the heart of old town we really did not want to spend any time here. I found the air stagnant, the shower was a bathtub with shower wand with no mount. For a tall person it was awkward and the floor would be drenched. Not that we need a tv, but ours was fuzzy and even with request for service it was rebooted but no better. There was never anyone at the front desk. The Spa appeared to be closed, scooters were parked in it. I get it that these are old buildings and we stayed in many like this because 'character' and 'heritage' hotels are usually so rewarding. Not so much at the Gem.

Stayed one night and the other was cancelled last minute. Jenny was rude and unhelpful and I had to find alternate accommodation. Room was basic, TV didn’t work and very noisy. Would not stay again due to Jenny’s bad attitude.

とにかく安かったので利用しました。 立地が良く、近くに飲食店やカフェ、マッサージ店なども非常に多く、お店が無くて困ったりは全くしません！ハノイ大聖堂がとても近いです！ 部屋は所々古さや汚れが目立ちますが値段が値段なので仕方がないと思います。あと部屋のドアが薄いのか結構外の音が聞こえます。 シャワーのお湯やアメニティなどの問題は全くありませんでした。 一つ気になったのがチェックインの際ロビーに誰もおらず、また呼び出しベル等も無かったので、スタッフの方が来るまで15分ほど待たされたことです。 夜に到着したこと、一人旅だったのでとても不安でした。事前にチェックインが何時頃になるか連絡しておくと良いかもしれません。

Hotellet ligger centralt i Hanoi Old Quarter. Selve hotellet var ikke noget at prale af, men prisen har også været meget billigt, så det er nok hvad man må forvente. Værelset var ret gammelt og beskidt. Derudover var morgenmaden virkelig dårlig, så den sprang vi pænt over. Der var også en del støj på hotellet i løbet af natten, hvilket var rigtig ærgerligt.

It was our worst stay ever! Don’t go to this hotel! We arrived late in the night and then they moved us to a different hotel close by. In the morning they told us that we need to move the hotel again. The communication was really bad. They told us that the hotels don’t cooperate and we need to arrange the move by ourselves. We went on a tour the day and when we came back they moved our whole stuff to the other hotel. Once we arrived there to hotel room was very dirty and we had a water leak in the bathroom. Surprisingly the breakfast was at the other hotel where we stayed the night before (but they don’t cooperate). We felt so unheard that we couldn’t stay there one more night.

Fanns ingen personal tillgänglig , ingen förstod engelska så väldigt svår kommunicerat. Smutsiga rum, läckte vatten ur kranarna. Wifi var väldigt dåligt också tyvärr så man kunde inte surfa. De lovade att fixa men inget hände.
