The location is great and the bed is very comfortable. I love this hotel but the housekeeper didn't clean the room throughly. I found out 1 opened water can left on the floor when I entered the room. The housekeeping manager emailed me to apologize. Hope they will clean the rooms throughly

In general, a good stay. The room — a bit small for the price paid — was clean and spacious. We loved the classy decor. But all in all, service is great as expected as a Fairmount accommodation.

The hotel is very good, but the room space is very small.

Bradley at the high tea was amazing!

Large, clean, well appointed room. Lovely high tea. Concierge was excellent.

Room was nice and clean. Loved my stay at the Empress, beautiful hotel and I enjoyed the stores they have available, purchased some items at the tea shop and clothing store only suggestion is that they could put the warmer plush robes to wear in the rooms, instead of just the towel robes.

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the Fairmont Empress. It’s obviously a beautiful, historic building, but the atmosphere felt welcoming rather than stuffy. Our room was comfortable and well-maintained, and the location right on the harbor made it easy to walk to dinner and explore the city. The staff were professional and helpful whenever we needed anything. Overall, a very solid, high-quality experience in Victoria.

Not clean and getting old

Mooie kamer, maar mag ook wel voor deze prijs. Jammer dat zwembad, spa en bar gelijktijdig worden gerenoveerd. Dat zijn toch wel de extraatjes wanneer je de keuze maakt voor een hotel als dit. Vernam het pas bij aankomst.

The room was clean, furniture uncomfortable. The bed though was great, positioned in an alcove so very quiet for sleeping. The sheets and pillows were fantastic. Slepted well. But no comfortable chairs to sit in. Poor natural light, had tiny windows (2). Very poor view. Especially for the cost of the room. When I arrived there was a dog bed and water bowl in the room. The porter asked where my pet was, I said I didn't have one. I do have to say the bathroom amenities where awesome and housekeeping was also amassing and helpful. Had to ask for slippers due to very cold bathroom floors. Coffe pot not working right and no coffee mugs, but housekeeping took care of it. Needed a bath tub mat for safety reasons. The TV channels and shows didn't match up at all plus poor choices as well. Not everyone streams off there phone for shows, especially older people. I am one of those. Your food options were very limited, to expensive and abit elaborate. Could have enjoyed just some crumpets and tea with some simple choices. More soup otions and simple sandwiches. Afternoon tea was so nice and the staff so helpful and nice. Have been coming to Victoria my entire life, it was my mom's childhood home and I will be coming back.

Hotel and staff were great. If you booked gold floor amenities there is a separate area and special check in desk.

It's been my lifelong dream to stay at The Empress Hotel & finally for my 50th birthday i decided on a spontaneous trip to the island for a night & splurged on the Empress as it was 1 of the only hotels with a pool *& open till 11pm. We'd be getting in later so the trip circled around swimming. After getting to our room i phoned the front desk as it only had a shower & the reservation promised a bath. We waited 15 mins and were escorted to another room with tub. We quickly changed into our swimsuits & even got lost trying to find the pool so an employee pointed us in the right direction. To our dismay the pool was undergoing renovations & a sign outside said it was closed till end january! 😔 i called the front desk as i felt this shouldve been mentioned in their advertising & was put thru to the manager. I told her how disappointed i was and she apologized profusely & had 2 gorgeous deserts sent up to the room for my birthday along with a voucher for breakfast on them in the morning. Although the night was rather dull as it was cold & rainy & i just took a hot bath & went to sleep, the breakfast was 5 star & the service couldnt have been better! There were other renovations going on in the hotel also so lesson learned i shouldve double checked about the pool before booking. All in all it was still nice to finally have "a night in the castle" but very much overrated & still disappointing considering the price. Also we expected a much more luxurious Vi
