We visited Canterbury for the first time to experience the Christmas markets as part of a ladies’ night away, with lots of festive activities planned. The original hotel I had booked fell short in terms of service, so I changed our reservation at the last minute to the Hampton, a decision I’m so glad I made!
Even before arrival, communication was excellent. I was kept well informed, particularly regarding parking, and the service already felt warm and welcoming. On arrival, we were quickly accommodated. Louise went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and settled, which made a real difference.
The rooms were clean, comfortable, and provided a great night’s sleep. Despite being located on a pedestrian road, the hotel was quiet, with no noise or disturbances on our floor. The location was fantastic for accessing the Christmas markets and local shops.
Breakfast was satisfactory, with an average selection and quality. The waffles were a highlight, along with the fresh fruit. The hot chocolate was very popular with the rest of the group. Fried eggs would have been a great addition to the menu.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return. Every member of staff we encountered was polite and pleasant. A special thank you to Louise and the gentleman at checkout for their assistance and fantastic service.

The room was good and the staff and breakfast were too. But the vibe of the lobby in evening was room for improvement- 24hr bar but BRIGHT lighting, boardgames but the snug felt like a breakout space. Could be so much better!

Hotel and room were excellent; neighboring guests were young and loud. Lots of screaming, laughing , playing music long into the night. We were just too tired to say anything. That won’t prevent us from staying again, but we can tell Canterbury even in winter is a weekend party town.

The hotel is in an excellent location making it easy to get around .
The breakfast room isnt particularly big but food was fresh.
We were a party of 10 originally, unfortunately one couple couldn't make it due to illness but the hotel still charged in full for the room.
This was really disappointing.
I get you have rules and i would expect to pay a fee but not the full amount.
This was upsetting

We arrived early on the train and asked if they would watch our bags until check-in. As it turned out, the room was ready even at 10 a.m.! The room was clean and modern with a large television. The bed was comfortable and had quality pillows. Breakfast was bountiful with many choices. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

Staff were excellent on arrival and made us feel welcome and valued. The room was clean and serviced everyday with clean towels etc. There was a good selection of food for breakfast but personally I am not a fan of tinned mushrooms or microwaved scrambled egg. I did use the bar for a beer which was pulled from a keg but I refused to drink it as it was flat and clearly the lines had not been "pulled through". Minor and eadily rectifiable things to examine.

"This is a truly lovely and charming hotel. Due to traffic restrictions in the city center, we had to park our car in a nearby multi-story car park and walk for a few minutes. However, we walked through an enjoyable shopping street, so it wasn't a bother at all.
It seems to have been renovated a few years ago; everything is simple, tasteful, and well put together. The staff service was good, and the breakfast was delicious. It's a wonderful hotel in the best position in Canterbury, and I definitely want to stay here again next time.
The only thing that concerned me was the female staff member, who appeared to be Italian and was in charge of breakfast. She kept her hands in her pockets the entire time, offered no smile, did not actively provide service, and was often leaning against a table."
