About Islamabad International Airport (ISB)
Islamabad International Airport (ISB) is Pakistan's second-busiest airport and its largest by cargo volume. Opened in April 2018, it replaced the older Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Rawalpindi. The airport handled over 6.8 million passengers in the 2024-25 financial year, and it sits about 25 km south-west of central Islamabad, near Fateh Jang.
Terminal and Airlines
ISB operates from a single integrated terminal building covering 180,000 square metres, with capacity for around 9 million passengers a year. Domestic and international flights are handled in the same terminal, separated into different sections. The airport is the main hub for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), which shifted its international hub here from Karachi in 2019, and for SereneAir. Other carriers serving ISB include AirSial, Airblue, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Turkish Airlines, Saudia and China Southern Airlines.
