Kraków John Paul II International Airport is the main gateway to southern Poland and the country's second-busiest airport. Compare airlines flying to and from Kraków (KRK) and set a Price Alert on Traveloka to track fares before you book.
Located in Balice, around 11 km west of Kraków's city centre, the airport is officially named Kraków John Paul II International Airport and is still sometimes referred to by its former name, Kraków-Balice. It handled more than 11 million passengers in 2024, making it Poland's second-busiest airport after Warsaw Chopin, and serves as the primary air link for southern Poland.
KRK's network is dominated by short-haul European routes, spanning the UK and Ireland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Scandinavia, alongside a smaller set of domestic connections to other Polish cities. The airport's route mix reflects strong demand from both inbound tourism to Kraków's historic Old Town and outbound leisure travel by Polish residents.
Low-cost carriers Ryanair and Wizz Air account for a large share of scheduled capacity at KRK, alongside Poland's flag carrier LOT Polish Airlines, which links Kraków into its Warsaw hub network. A range of other European carriers add seasonal and year-round capacity on top of this base.
The airport operates two connected terminals: Terminal 1 handles flights outside the Schengen Area (including the UK and Ireland), while Terminal 2 handles domestic flights and Schengen-area routes, where most low-cost carrier services operate. A short pedestrian link joins the two buildings.
The SKA1 suburban rail line runs directly between the airport and Kraków Główny (the main railway station), with a direct journey time of around 16 minutes — the fastest way into the city centre. Taxis and rideshare services are also available outside both terminals for those travelling with more luggage or heading elsewhere in the region.
KRK offers a full range of traveller facilities across its terminals, including dining and retail options, duty-free shopping, free Wi-Fi and charging points, plus lounges for premium and frequent travellers.
