Roberts International Airport (ROB)

About Roberts International Airport (ROB)

Roberts International Airport (ROB) is Liberia's main international gateway, located near Harbel in Margibi County, about 56 km (35 miles) from downtown Monrovia. Built during World War II and expanded with a new terminal in 2017, it handles roughly 228,000 passengers a year on a single long runway originally built to handle wide-body and military aircraft.

Airlines and Routes

ROB is served by a handful of international carriers rather than a hub network. Airlines flying to and from Monrovia include Ethiopian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Kenya Airways, Royal Air Maroc, ASKY Airlines, Air Côte d'Ivoire and Air Peace, connecting to around a dozen destinations across West Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

Where Flights from ROB Connect To

Most routes from ROB link to regional West African hubs such as Abidjan, Accra and Lagos, plus longer-haul connections through Addis Ababa, Brussels, Casablanca and Nairobi. For fares and schedules on specific routes, check Traveloka's dedicated flight pages, which cover route pricing in more depth than this overview.

Terminal

ROB operates from a single passenger terminal, rebuilt and expanded in phases since the civil war years, with capacity aimed at supporting Liberia's growing air traffic.

Getting To and From Monrovia

Because the airport sits about an hour's drive from the capital, getting into Monrovia takes longer than at a typical city airport. Licensed taxis wait outside the terminal, though it's worth agreeing on a fare before setting off. Many hotels in Monrovia also run their own airport shuttle services for guests, which is generally the more predictable option.

Facilities

Facilities are basic and proportional to a developing-nation gateway airport: a waiting area, limited dining, and currency exchange. Don't expect the retail, lounge or dining variety found at major international hubs.
