Airlines and Hubs

Lufthansa, together with Lufthansa CityLine and Lufthansa City Airlines, uses Munich as a major hub — its second-largest after Frankfurt — and in 2025 extended its joint-venture agreement with Munich Airport through to 2056, including plans for further terminal expansion. Terminals at Munich Airport

MUC has two terminals. Terminal 1 serves all airlines other than Lufthansa and its partners, and recently gained a new pier adding up to 6 million passengers a year of capacity for international traffic. Getting To and From the City

S-Bahn lines S1 and S8 connect the airport directly to Munich's Hauptbahnhof (central station), running alternately for a combined interval of about 10 minutes; the S8 takes around 40 minutes and the S1 around 45 minutes.
