Radisson Blu Hotel, Birmingham

Reception staff didn’t find very welcoming or friendly on arrival or departure. I felt they expected me to know where to go to find my room and how to depart leaving my room card in a box. Carpet in the room had an area that looked wet on arrival. Overall my room was comfortable and adequate for my overnight stay.

Air condition not working and broken as we were informed in thie extremely hot nights! No probable solution or help. For multiple nights.

I arrived at the hotel and went to my room, only to find that it was extremely hot. The air conditioning was not working, and although I reported the issue to staff, they were not particularly helpful. The only solution offered was a very small fan, which was nowhere near adequate given that the temperature was around 30°C that day. As a result, the room was uncomfortable and unsuitable for staying in. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to leave the hotel and book accommodation elsewhere. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, particularly due to the lack of effective support from staff when dealing with the issue.

Absolutely shocking. The air con had stopped working but this information wasn’t given to us. We checked in and overhead another guest talking about the lack of air con so we asked and were sheepishly told we could either have a refund or a fan. We went to the room to assess the situation and it was awful. We received about 8 emails prior to check in, asking if we wanted to upgrade our stay but no one thought to pre warn us of the biblical temperatures. We were told that the air con in the building wasn’t sufficient to service all the rooms to the degree of heat we’ve been having which would seem to be a massive oversight for a chain as big as Radisson. As it was so late in the day, we couldn’t find alternative accommodation so had to return home instead which ruined a birthday weekend that we had planned. Luckily we managed to find alternative accommodation the next day but I feel a lot more could have been done by the staff and hotel. Surely there is a sister hotel they could have contacted or at least tried to fix the situation but they couldn’t have cared less. They very much gave the air of just trying to get away with it as best as they could and were trying to keep as much business through omittance of truth. Absolutely diabolical way to treat customers.

The air conditioner for the whole building was broken, and with the heat it was almost impossible to sleep. The staff tried their best to help in anyway possible, but it was horrible.

Staff were very helpful and location was perfect . Unfortunately on arrival no one had filled the handwash or shower gel , so had to request someone to do this . The aircon was extremely noisy and could not control the temperature of the shower , extremely hot and could have been dangerous.

The welcome was initially curt until the desk staff warmed their welcome. Couldn’t check in 5 minutes early. Although the property is generally I’m good order and clean there were some issues with the air con during the stay, which seemed to stop working every 2 or so hours and wasn’t very cool, meaning the room was a bit of a sweat box when the sun blasted it. Also a bit of a design flaw in the room only having USB-A sockets next to the bed, with no plug sockets nearby. Breakfast was also a bit basic.

Wonderful stay and check in process really clean room with really friendly staff. We went during pride and it was the perfect place to relax afterwards. The bar is well staffed and maintained

Very central to the event we were attending, the room was spacious and well equipped but felt tired and used, the sink sloped, possibly cause it was damaged by someone sitting on it so water would splash out on to your clothes when you ran the taps. The air conditioning could not cope with the heat of the weekend and would error over night leaving the room very hot at about 4am. For that I'd probably look at another hotel the next time I was in Birmingham

I had a lovely high room overlooking the city The room was large and clean with a spotless bathroom My only criticism is that the air-conditioning in the room was terrible I had to sleep on top of the bed clothes but still woke up in the middle of the night boiling hot

I was upgraded but the room smelled of damp

Unfortunately, this property did not live up to the standards and the costs! I was given an accessible room despite me not booking one. They couldn’t change it for me because in the other room, AC was not working, all for me to find out that you can’t set a temperature below 19 degrees in this hotel! I am not sure what people are supposed to do in hotter weather! Breakfast was really standard for such a big chain. Will not be staying again!

It’s clean and a pretty hotel it need maintenance though paint is chipping off the skirting board the ceilings and walls need some paint they look dirty there was tape on the ceiling from the last people who stayed food is awful apart from the fries 10/10 staff are judgy
