Air conditioning in the room did not work - not acceptable

La limpieza de la habitación pese a ser un hotel Marriott no se hace todos los días . Cuando pedí que limpien el cuarto se sorprendieron y dijeron que no era usual y que lo lo normal es limpiar el cuarto cada 4 días . Eso me llamó la atención porque he estado en muchos hoteles Marriott en muchos lugares

Check in was laboured and I got a male member of staff who thought it was OK to joke with me and I did not find it helpful. We were given a room upgrade - but I think this was not the case. We traipsed though a couple of buildings to get there - past some painting work - and got a view of the car park. The aircon did not work and needed the filter changed. NO parking required. Breakfast not taken . We had a dreadful experience the next morning when friends arrived to meet us for coffee. The coffee area was closed and we were told to go into the breakfast room and grab some cups from the machine!! Eventually - one switched on guy told us he would open up the barista machine and we got 4 nice coffees. We have to stay in Durham again in a few months and my husband has point blank refused to rebook this hotel. Sorry. First impressions count.

Prior to booking this hotel we specifically called up to ask whether there is air conditioning at this hotel. So imagine our disappointment to discover that the air conditioning did not work properly on one of the hottest days of the year. Not only blow warm air, it was also so noisy that we could not sleep. I complained to reception about this matter who then admitted they had air conditioning issues but managed to find a fan for us. For the price we paid it was a disappointing stay.. we could have stayed at a cheaper hotel with a fan.

Super convenient for the city, great staff, and an excellent breakfast. I will definitely stay again.

Have epilepsy - cannot have a bath. To climb over bath side with no grab handles is not a good idea. Difficult to get the shower working at an acceptable temp. Should have a walk in shower

Staff friendly and helpful the room was clean and light with great view over river. Breakfast was excellent. Bar was good

A cooked breakfast was ok, it would have been better if it had been served straight from the kitchen instead of being in a heat unit.

Fabulous location and very warm, welcoming staff. Room very clean and well appointed. Bar and restaurant not very inviting and we’ve never used during our stays at this hotel as outside options are so close and more appealing.

Stayed for 2 nights during our wedding. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. Our room was incredible. Friendly, helpful bar staff with a well stocked bar.

Fantastic location

Hotel is in a great location for the city. It was clean, staff excellent and helpful. Breakfast choices were good and the food was very nice. Room a bit tired. Biggest issue was that the air conditioning was ineffective, even turned down to the lowest setting. I’m sure not a problem most of the time but this was an especially hot night.

Exactly what I needed for having a night over for attending a wedding. Within walking distance of shops, food & train station. Really convenient overall

The room was very warm despite attempts to adjust the thermostat. The portable fan was mildly helpful. Otherwise, it was a positive experience overall. Great location.

Rooms clean, well equipped. Staff very pleasant and professional. Breakfast fresh with plenty of choice.
