We had a great one night stay whilst attending an even at the NEC, which is within very easy walking distance. The hotel was clean, the staff were all very friendly and helpful and our room comfortably accommodated our family of four. The swimming pool was a highlight for my children, as was the delicious dinner and breakfast we enjoyed during our stay.

We had an awful stay at Hilton Birmingham Metropole. The experience started with extremely long queues, but the biggest issue was being woken by the fire alarm at 2am. After being forced to stand outside in horrendous rain and thunder, we eventually returned to our room and got back into bed, only to be woken again a few hours later by another false alarm. While in the lift during the first evacuation, another guest told us they had experienced the same issue repeatedly throughout the week during the night, which is quite frankly unacceptable. Our child was absolutely petrified by the whole ordeal, and after the second alarm we decided to pack up and prepare to leave. As a result, we got virtually no sleep at all. It's a real shame because the hotel itself is lovely and the décor is beautiful, but the repeated false alarms completely ruined our stay. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend it based on our experience.

The lobby and restaurants are nice, up to date. The hallways and rooms need TLC. The hallway carpet has a terrible old, musty smell and the rooms/bathrooms were not the cleanest I’ve seen (hair pins left on floor) but the staff was very helpful, very friendly and the location to NEC is ok except for the rats. The walkway leaving the hotel may be full of trees but we saw no less than 2 rats during the day every time we walked the path.

Had a room at the back with a tiny window at the top that we couldn't see anything out of or open, aircon didn't work, remote for tv missing and no shower gel in the container. We went and changed rooms and the staff were very helpful, probably because we shouted a little at them. New room, aircon was still not great but at least we could open the window to let some air in. Rooms are looking tired and could do with a refub for the money you pay for them. It was games expo and we took to the stairs as the lifts were very busy and one was closed off. As for the stair ways, they've not been swept in years, there was that much dust and hair in them you could knit a jumper. Breakfast was good and the staff were cleaning all the time and kept the tables available.

Location is excellent with a good sized car park. Shame the room was quite poor. Aircon wasn’t working and made the stay terrible. Not what I was expecting from a Hilton.

The room I was given (single occupancy to be fair) was similar to student accommodation. The small bed was pushed up against the wall. The shower was cramped, the shower gel was empty. The carpet had a threadbare patch, the wallpaper was peeling away in a couple of corners and the net curtain on the window wasn't well attached. Oh, and yes, the bathroom had no door, which was an interesting design feature. If you get a room like this, you'd be better off staying at a travel lodge. Also, we were asked to leave the car-park earlier than intended as they had a large function on. Despite all of the above negativity, I would like to say that all the staff around the hotel were great - friendly, polite and helpful.

Huge, very unwelcoming hotel. Queues for everything Room weird, no bathroom door. Air con very noisy. Unusable at night. Queues for breakfast and difficult to find a seat. Food for dinner absolutely awful. Pasta cooked to the point of falling apart to mash. Terrible and inexcusably poor, even for hotel food. Of all the hotels around the NEC, this has been the worst.

We had a lovely stay and overall a fantastic experience. The hotel was clean, well presented, and had a really welcoming atmosphere. Our room was comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The breakfast buffet was amazing, with a great variety of fresh options to suit everyone – a perfect start to the day. The staff throughout the hotel were warm, friendly, and always happy to help, which really made a difference. The location is excellent, right by the NEC and very close to Birmingham Airport. We visited the Gladiator Experience at the NEC, which was so easy to reach on foot in under 10 minutes – super convenient. A special mention to Karisma, who served us food and drinks at the bar on Friday evening, even towards the end of her shift. She was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome. Her positive attitude and excellent service really stood out. Thank you to the whole team – we would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to others!

Room- Hair clump found on carpet in the bedroom. Too layer of bath was damaged. Toilet roll holder was loose and we couldn’t tighten it. Corridors are noisey when people are talking, can hear everything in the rooms.
