The Station Hotel and Banqueting

Do not stay here. Our room wasn't ready when we checked in, an hour and a half after check in was available. Self service check in with codes to the room and main entrance. The room was disgusting, blood? on the walls and base of the bed, some type of substance on the windowsill and chair, fridge filthy and the hob. I have been refused a refund and now cannot even contact the hotel. Emails bouncing back.

My review is mixed! For a person without mobility issues I would give it 3*’s. The property was clean, the rooms spacious, bed comfortable and nice to have a little kitchenette in the room as well. On the downside I want a plug that once put into the sink there is a way to take it out again, but I couldn’t find on, so I had to clean my teeth over the kitchen sink! I also HATED that there was no-one in reception to greet you on arrival, and that I didn’t see a member of staff during my trip. This would have helped the check in process rather than being sent a couple of YouTube links on how to get into the property … which in turn lead me to YouTube videos about the hotel appearing on a certain TV program - I’ll leave you to discover that one! :-) Sadly, as a person with mobility issues, who actually messaged the hotel asking them if there was a lift for a second floor room, because I had walking difficulties and couldn’t manage stairs. There was a lift, but once I was on the second floor there were 2 steps, followed by a small landing step, and then around 5 or 6 more steps. There was no handrail to assist and immediately at the top of the second lit of steps there was a heavy door you also had to grapple with. Once in the room, despite the room that on the whole was fine, to get into the shower there was a huge step up, around 10” high, but no grab handle on either the inside or outside, so it was impossible for me to use this facility because of fear of falling.

The property is a little run down but clean. It is very conveniently located for Dudley town centre and all attractions and amenities. There is no air conditioning in the rooms and as this turned out to be a stay during a heat wave it was a little uncomfortable and difficult to get to sleep. It's also a little noisy due to the main road, especially with the windows open. There is no check in process other than registering your car for free parking, which is done via a tablet on arrival, so there are no staff to speak to. Entrance to the building is via a code and a separate code is required to access the individual rooms, both of which are received by email on the day of arrival. My only complaint here is the code used to access the room is a little long and can be cumbersome to enter. All in all I was pleased with this booking given the relatively cheap room price.

It served a purpose, i wouldn't stay again as its all changed from when we stayed last, no onsite staff, door codes emailed too you. Room was ok , we did have an issue with the water system waking us up early one morning , making a horrible noise, did try to contact someone but never got back to us. That has put us off staying there again.

Good location for the black country museum nice clean room with a kitchen and decent bathroom not keen on self check in but a good base if you want to cater for yourself very noisy at nights traffic

Very peaceful place to stay .staff were very helpful even when I messed up my booking

Location was good, a lot Of rooms, great has I was there for a reunion and most of the people going was able to stay in the same place, no staff around had to call for them to come around. But it was value for money will be happy to use again on the next reunion there

I thought that the stay at the Station Hotel, and Banqueting suite was really great, as, it was clean, staff were both polite, kind, and professional, the bed was comfortable, clean, and comfortable. I really got to say that, I really just, enjoyed staying there. I'd stay thrre, again worth, every penny.

In 50+ years of travelling for business and pleasure this was worst property I have ever seen….i walked away and paid to stay in an another hotel …dirty,cold draughty falling down horrendous inside and appeared to being used almost as a doss house….absolute disgrace that it’s advertised…they lock it up at 11 only one door on a passcode is available …code didn’t work…anyone considering staying here don’t…there were holes in bathroom walls….hot water took an eternity and shower is an accident waiting to happen Staff..was one person never saw room service or any other employee …notices on wall were all for phone numbers no where near Dudley Save your sanity and your health….and I took pictures

All ok except no milk for drinks, no hair dryer and no double glazing so could not sleep due to load traffic noise all night.

The room was very noisy as it faced the main road and there was a lot of traffic noise. The room was clean but quite cold and the duvet was very thin.

The hotel was what I expected.

The room itself was ok it had a small kitchenette with a toaster fridge microwave and electric hob all clean and all worked however there were hardly any utensils 2 knives 2 forks 1 dessert spoon and one teaspoon a couple of big plastic spoons for stirring and dishing food there were no scissors no tongs no fish/egg slice for fried eggs, odd glasses no chopping board no knife to cut cheese or other food products no tea towels to dry pots maybe that’s something to look at if you better equip your kitchenette, heater tank immersion heater tank so waiting for water to come out was almost like a drip very slow had to boil the kettle instead, the worst part for us was the noise from the main road it was just too busy from early morning about 5.30am (they do advertise that you can buy ear plugs) but really if you know it’s noisy and could disturb sleep which is part and parcel of hotel experience they should be provided, or invest in soundproofing windows (there was construction going on across the road from hotel which added to the extra noise but that’s not the hotels fault, I believe this hotel had in its time the likes of Laurel and Hardy, Bob Hope and other stars back in the day as it was a top billed hotel they should emphasise that more very near BCLM and Dudley Zoo but just wasn’t for us but has potential if they invested time and money to what I have written we would probably stay again.
