The hotel itself is a typical "Railway hotel" that is tired looking in places (ie needs decorating) but that said it is still a lovely hotel, the rooms are clean there is tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge i can't comment on the breakfast as I didnt have it. The check in lady (Annabelle i think!) Was first class her customer service was second to none and should be recognised by the hotel management, obviously very close to Newcastle Central Station and also close to restaurants etc, I would stay here again.

Self check in and out resulted in not speaking to a single member of staff during our stay. Hotel was clean and cheerful, with many antique features that, with a little investment, could be brought to back to their full beautiful life. Room was clean, some noise from the train station, which is expected given its proximity. Beds very soft.

Lovely staff but rooms extremely dated, wallpaper peeling, carpets worn and grotty. Drains seemed to back up whenever I used the shower so I'd be treated to the smell of sewage for a few hours after washing. Mini fridge wasn't working so had to waste the food I'd treated myself to as I was over for a few nights for a work trip. Gym was... Okay? Matching sets of free weights and a few cardio machines, for the price you pay for entry I'd have expected at least a cable machine but hey ho. Pool was fine (small obviously but not tiny), steam room and sauna weren't bad at all. Good location but unfortunately hotel generally is in desperate need of a refurb to be honest.

The curtains in my room were too small for the window by about 12 inches letting light in at 04.30am, the sink was cracked in the bathroom, the tiles were cracked and dangerous (sharp bits) the carpet was filthy and communal areas filthy. I stop in hotels every week and never leave a review but this was terrible
