뒷문으로 가면 뉴캐슬 기차역 플랫폼까지 3분이면 갈 수 있어 엄청 편리합니다. 다만 호텔입구와 층마다 객실가는 곳에 낮은 계단이 있어 짐이 무거우면 불편합니다.

Vibrating noise all day and night too warm no air con and unable to open window fan did nothing. Bed was broken And room was tiny Very dated nothing like the photos

Daniel and Johnathan helped us get our two rooms closer together. The new room was updated and lovely. The staff we dealt with were kind and professional even when fire alarms were going off in the morning the next day. They helped by holding our bags so we could explore the city before boarding our train.

Generally good. Couldn't get the WiFi to work properly.

The worst stay that I’ve ever had. It’s such a shame as when my mum, grandma and I used to stay here - whilst I studied at Newcastle University 13 years ago - it was lovely! Whilst there are hints of glory such as beautiful old tiles and the building’s facade, it is tired, old and grubby. Upon checking in around 3PM, we were shown to our first room on Floor 1. The bin was full of rubbish and hair and used towels were thrown on the floor. When we went downstairs to complain, we were then given a new room on Floor 3. Upon checking into this room, there were no toilet rolls or towels. I only discovered the lack of toilet rolls after using the toilet which was most unfortunate. Also, the floor was covered in crisps and toenails (yuck!). I literally kept my slippers or sandals on the whole stay; the carpet was in a very sad state indeed. The windows were cracked. The beds: they deserve a few sentences just for themselves. The mattresses were dirty. My mum actually slept on top of the duvet cover as she was worried about bed bugs. They were so squeaky and uncomfortable. It’s a good job that my mum and I were able to laugh about our stay - luckily the theatre and meal that we had were both lovely. Sadly, despite staying here numerous times before whilst at university from 2013-2016, I would no longer recommend this hotel. Major renovations are needed and management is needed to address customers’ concerns - there didn’t seem to be anyone in charge.

Great hotel and location was perfect, just the old building looked very weathered inside the rooms. The outside is stunning the inside is old and not up to the outside looks. Room was clean and tidy just old and weathered tho

Location was very convenient, room was clean and helpful staff. Perfect pick for an overnight stay to attend a gig.

Public areas beautiful, location perfect, rooms so dated, tatty and not welcoming, bar so expensive.

I visit Newcastle about four times per year and frankly wouldn't stay anywhere else. From the moment you walk off the Station concourse, through the beautiful revolving door, you're made to feel welcome. Check in staff will always accommodate early arrivals, if available, but they do have secure luggage storage. The convenience to the city and the amenities are self evident, but the staff are the jewel in the Royal crown. Beyond exception they are friendly and efficient. Special mention for Michael, who is a fixture, serving at breakfast (incredible quality, buffet style) and later at the bar, always convivial. Five stars, every time.

As expected nice building but pasted its best although would not go as far as to say run down. Only thing that came as a surprise was additional fee to use pool. This might have been on the web site but did not notice.

Drain smells in the room and bathroom, room is minuscule under the eaves. Decor shabby everywhere, paintwork shabby, carpets in common areas repaired by duct tape. Period features gutted out.

A lovely hotel with lots of character but in need of some tlc. Room was very small with a very small bed for two people. Window wouldn’t open so a bit stuffy. Even though I checked in online the girl on reception seemed a bit clueless as she kept saying I need a reference number of my email and to enter on the self check in. It took some time to convince her I didn’t need to do this. Then I wanted to book breakfast for the following morning and she told me it would be at the full price. I disputed this as they were offering a special price and again it took a while to get sorted at the special price. We were given tickets to present at breakfast and then when we did the following morning there was no record of our booking on the list so yet again it took a while to get this sorted. Think some of the staff need some training in customer service.

Dinner was poor, chicken breast was dry as a bone. The room was hot and stuffy with no air con, and toilet intermittently topped up or drained. Such a shame as we like staying at these traditional old school classy establishments.

Travelled as a family of 4 in 2 x twins which were clean and met all our needs. It's a grand hotel with lots of history. The staff from reception, breakfast, and cleaning staff were all very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We'll done, customer service at its best.

Ok generally a bit tired. Room hadn't been properly serviced before we arrived (no towels etc). Staff very friendly and helpful. Outside noisey
